This long weekend in June saw the inaugural opening of the Performance Street and Race Autoshow, known as PSRA, come to fruition showcasing new cars, new performance products and a fantastic array of hi-performance showcars and bikes. This will become Australia’s version of SEMA, a similar event held in the United States, and will be an annual show utilizing the facilities at the Royal Melbourne Show grounds for hopefully many years to come. Never have I seen a car show utilize the size of the area this show has to the point of having turn vehicles away but that is what happened today. The All American car show put on by the AOMC and sponsored by Shannons Insurance had such a huge turnout of classic, custom, old and new and covering all  American marques and models that by 11am they had no choice but to shut the gates. My estimate would put the number of vehicles to over 1200 with reports of another smaller car show starting out in the car park from those turned away. Even those looking to simply attend in person had to line up due to the popularity of this mega-event. With perfect autumn weather in Melbourne, the order of the day was to find an outside activity and anyone with a strong interest in this vocation could be expected to attend this automotive spectacular among others found in and around Melbourne.

What do you do when you’ve spent the last thirty years building elite show cars and all you want now is a driver that you can enjoy with your wife or take to car shows? You know that if you build one yourself, it’s not going to turn out to be the driver you had planned on, but will most likely end up back on the elite show circuit. The best plan is to buy  one already done and just make a few alterations yourself…as long as you keep a tight leash on yourself! Read the full at Caprice Photography Automotive Art.

Where do you go when you want to check out wild rides, tough cars, cool cruisers and customized trucks while checking out a burnout competition supported by a rock band as background music? You can’t go wrong with the American and British MCC Bike, Car and Truck Show! This event has everything going for it in its new location at the spacious Calder Park Thunderdome. Bikes lined up for what seemed like an endless line of chrome, leather and steel while supported by a wide array of hot rods, classic, custom and street/strip cars. A small but impressive gathering of custom trucks weren’t going to be outshone either! See more pics of this event after the jump, and even more can be seen at Caprice Photography Automotive Art.

For those of us with a strong interest in the automotive scene, Australia Day traditionally sees many events happen, from BBQs with your mates bullshitting about car-related topics, through to cruises with your local club or mates while bullshitting about car-related topics. This year we could add a major event to our Australia Day program as the date fell on the same weekend as the Victorian Hot Rod show held in Melbourne at the historic Exhibition Building. Cars and bikes from far and wide were able to cruise up to the four day event and create a fantastic show outside while taking in the spectacle inside. Throw in some beautiful sunny weather and there was no excuse for not getting your ride out and going for a spin. More pics found here: Caprice Photography Automotive Art

With 40 degree Celsius weather forecast for the first day of the 11th Kustom Nationals, fans of this event could be excused for deciding to keep their rides tucked away while chilling out in the comfort of an air conditioned room somewhere, preferably with a drink in hand. But anyone who attended Friday night's opening event held along the picturesque foreshore of San Remo will testify that this did not happen! We arrived late afternoon and were amazed to see the huge number of cars and bikes parked up ready to take in all that the Nats could offer.

Held annually in Victoria, Australia on an island better known for its bike racing, Phillip Island once again showed why it hosts one of the premier events in the state, if not the country.

Tuners across Melbourne converged on the Royal Melbourne show grounds over the weekend to check out Auto Euphoria. The two-day event housed inside one of the pavilions on the grounds encompassed all that today’s late model automotive technology has to offer. From some of the wildest creations found on the Melbourne late model show scene through to the latest gear available for your ride, enthusiasts were treated to an onslaught of bling, bags, turbos and automotive attitude not to mention the latest club hits pumping out across the show thanks to a number of djs and serious in-car stereos. Enhancing the atmosphere was the eye catching promotions girls who could be seen strutting their stuff throughout the show as they helped to promote the various businesses associated with this craft while keeping photographers busy. Calder Park was the place to be on Saturday for the first annual Chevy Nationals with action on the track and bling in the Thunderdome. What a way to kick start your weekend, cruise to Calder, park your wheels in the Thunderdome and watch an afternoon of Chevy donks in various GM manufactured products tearing up the strip and if the juices flowed hard enough through ya, you could go grab your ride, put it through scrutineering and get out there yourself! Have you ever been surrounded by over a thousand classic American cars without actually being in the Land Of The Free? Well this weekend would have been your perfect opportunity to take in such a sight if you had attended the Shannons American Motoring Show held on the affluent grounds of Flemington Racecourse. More images of this event below the jump, and see the complete gallery here.

While numbers may have been down on last years’ turn-out, the quality of classic American iron on display certainly didn’t disappoint! Showing everything from an old funeral hearse circa 1920s to American muscle cars from the 70s and everything in between, the Docklands waterfront was awash with color as the enthusiastic crowd strolled through taking in the automotive spectacle. Once again, Gary and the team from the Lincoln- Mercury car club put on an impeccable show seeing all who participated arrive and leave without drama. This event would make a great excuse to spend a weekend in Melbourne, so mark it in your calendar, book some accommodation and if you’ve got classic tucked away, bring it along for all to enjoy!

See you there! More images of this event after the jump, and the rest car be found at my blog. Keep on cruzin’
