Can you drift a 2013 Ford Taurus SHO like NASCAR racer Carl Edwards does in the commercial? I tried and couldn't. This press car didn't have the ESC button in the center console to disable the stability management system so try as I might, the car would never get sideways. Hit the jump to watch the road test and drift attempt...

This documentary is of a trip to Death Valley in my 1999 Jeep Grand Cherokee with a freshly installed IRO long arm 4" lift kit. I talked an experienced "off-roader" friend of mine into teaching me the basics of four wheeling and showing me some of the cool spots that many people don't see when they go to Death Valley. Special thanks to my friend Mike Todd for letting me eat some of the real food that he brought and cooked, instead of having to survive on Cliff bars and beef jerky like I had planned! More pics plus video after the jump!

Here's a little over six minutes of the greatest engine noises I've captured over the last few years. Put your headphones on for this one or just turn your speakers way up, because in this video, there's no music and no talking. Here's a quick list of the vehicles in this video: Aston Martin V8 Vantage S Roadster, Shelby Ford Mustang GT500 Super Snake, Dodge Challenger SRT8, 32 Ford Hi-Boy, Lotus Evora, 1965 Corvette Stingray, 1982 Camaro Z28 third gen, Sam Hubinette's drift prepped Dodge Challenger, Mike Ryan's full race Frieghtliner Cascadia, Ducati 996 Desmoquattro Corse, and my favorite: the Aston Martin V12 Vantage Coupe. Enjoy and keep checking back for more automotive videos! Hit the jump to watch.

This is my new project vehicle, a 1999 Jeep Grand Cherokee with only 100,000 miles on it. The goal is to make a reliable daily driver that would also be fairly capable as an off-road rig for as cheap as possible. I sold my truck for $5,000 and bought this thing for $4,000, leaving a little room for improvements right out of the gate. I started with the Iron Rock Offroad 4" lift and some rock sliders. Next I bought some Hankook Dynapro M/T tires, size 265/75 R16. The video below the jump shows the install of the suspension upgrades and sets up the maiden voyage of the Jeep into the wilds of Death Valley...in August. Stay tuned for Part 2, coming soon, featuring the shakedown trip!

James "Ski" Smith is at it again! This time he flips his Fox bodied Mustang up into a two-wheeled ski and tries to complete a lap around the famous Laguna Seca Raceway in Monterey, California. It takes a tremendous amount of skill to drive a car on two wheels for that length of time and to make it more challenging, Jamey had never been around the race course before the stunt. Check out the video after the jump to see what it's like from on-board and as we drive along with him.

The Swedish Viking Speed Records Team led by racing driver Boije Ovebrink set two land speed racing world records at the Historic Wendover Airfield in Utah, (just a few minutes away from the famous Bonneville Salt Flats) on April 27, 2012.

Ovebrink piloted the Volvo Hybrid Semi Truck "Mean Green" to an average speed of 236.577 km/h (147.002 mph) through the Flying Kilometer (2/3 mile) and ran 153.252 km/h (95.245 mph) from a standstill over the same Kilometer. Mean Green features a highly tuned Volvo D16 engine cranking out 1900 horsepower and an electric motor good for 200 horsepower and an amazing 885 lb-ft. of torque to bump the combined power total to nearly 5,000 lb-ft.

The speed record attempts were sanctioned by the United States Auto Club, an extension of the Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile (FIA), motoring’s international governing body. The new world records are subject to FIA recognition, which will occur in about 30 to 60 days. Hit the jump to see video of the record-breaking runs!

This is one of only four 1957 Thunderbirds that came from the factory with this "feature." In this photo, it's in plain sight. Can you tell what it is? Answer below the jump!
