Looks like Honda knows they goofed with the latest Civic. An emergency refresh will hit dealer lots in November and Honda is advising dealers to clear 2012 inventory because "changes made to the 2013 model will make the outgoing 2012 Civic a difficult model [to] sell when they are side to side." Though it does kind of count as industry navel-gazing, it's always interesting to hear what the elites of the automotive press corps would pick as their new ride. Even if some of the choices are downright confusing. And what always rankles me about these contests is that it's never really considered okay to just pick whatever new car rings in closest to the $100K, sell it, and then use the proceeds to purchase every 50s-80s basketcase you've ever wanted. Check out Vanity Fair to see what various eds-in-chief would choose. What would you pick?

Old-school Japanese tin has been seriously coming up in the world, and now it's not uncommon to see entire events dedicated to celebrating JDM, rather than just relegating the classic Skylines and old-school Coronas to some obscure corner of a larger car show. The Japanese Classic Car Show just had its eigth annual run in Long Beach, and Hooniverse has gathered some nice pics from the event, really showcasing all the best that this emerging genre has to offer. How about you, aware of any classic-Japanese events in your area yet? See the full gallery at CNCPics.

Automotive News is reporting that the 2015 model year Challenger will be all-new and significantly smaller, with a wheelbase two or three inches shorter than the current car. The article goes on to state: "Look for an SRT version from the new platform, likely resurrecting the Barracuda nameplate, and featuring a new 6.2-liter supercharged V-8, to appear earlier in 2014." There seems to be some doubt over at Moparts about the likelihood that Dodge will resurrect the Barracuda name. Time will tell...

Well, it turns out that the reports of the GT-Rs impending death were greatly exaggerated. So that's the good news. The bad news is that it will likely be about five years before we see a major redesign. Still, you can expect a steady stream of updates until then. Full story at Edmunds

I guess since getting Charger cop cars in the US, we can't exactly complain that we've been shorted in the Awesome Pursuit Vehicles department. But damn. The new BMW designs will be announced next month at the General Police Equipment Exhibition Conference in Germany (sounds like fun), so stay tuned. Via Autoblog.

Remember the Galibier? The four-door version of the Veyron is headed for production and Bugatti CEO Wolfgang Durheimer sat down with Car and Driver last week to spill some quasi-details. The super-sedan will in fact get twin turbos on its 8.0L W16, just like the Veyron, and will produce "over 1,000" hp and will exceed 235 mph in top speed. I don't feel like there's any real news here: I think Bugatti just likes to pop up and make sure the Galibier gets mentioned every so often, just to keep the dream alive. Supposedly it'll actually make it to production around 2015.

My first thought was, "oh that video is a year old," but then I recalled that an almost identical crash happened on this same turn at last year's hillclimb, too. This one was worse, and happened just this weekend with rookie Jeremy Foley at the wheel of his Mitsubishi Evo for his first Pikes Peak. There are a couple of different reports on what may have happened to him and his co-driver: one says Foley broke a leg, another says the co-driver sustained a shoulder injury. But the bottom line is that they both got away with fairly minor injuries in light of the circumstances. Yikes! Hit the jump to watch two different perspectives on the wreck. Via Carscoop.

You've already seen the all-new Mazda6 sedan, and now the company has released the first official photo of the wagon version, which begins production today in Japan. I guess it's not the most functional wagon cargo-wise because of that sloping roofline, but it's still a shame that it's probably not coming to North America; it would've made a nice economical alternative to Acura's TSX Sport Wagon.
