More 2015 Mustang Renderings
Posted On: 10/5/2012 11:11AM

This rendering is from the latest issue of Car and Driver, and you can see the rear view after the jump. Jalopnik just posted a bunch as well plus a handy recap of everything we know about the new pony car. What do you think? Is this anything close to what the new Stang is gonna look like?

If this really is where it's going, expect at least another 3 decades of a slump! Although it doesn't look bad...not anywhere near as bad as the Mustang II's, 80's-90's or early 2000's, but no this is not what Mustang should look like.

While I don't know if it should have the name mustang, it is still a good looking car. Plus, the retro look is so dead to me anyway... It's so corny now. And maybe this will get rid of some of the mustang fanboys and gain some people who are more interested in the car than the name and heritage

It really irritates me that every time a rendering comes out that doesn't look like the current car or the '64.5-'72, people shout out that it's "not a real Mustang." Trust me, you won't find anyone who loves Mustangs any more than me and I'm super excited about the idea of a totally new one. I think that this render is GORGEOUS (minus the taillights which won't look anything like that according to Jalopnik insiders). Car design is an evolutionary process. A car should reflect its heritage, not be a carbon copy. Please Ford, let's mix things up a bit.

anyone who says this isn't a good looking car is just in denial, HOWEVER this ain't no Mustang! call it a taurus coupe or something but keep the mustang looking like a retro mustang. They should focus on evolving as the 60's-70's mustang did, making variations of the fastback and boss that should give them a good 10 years of new evolutions of the retro mustang.

Isn't it ironic that the one car I like, everyone else hates. I like it as a car. Not sure I like it as a Mustang. This is a problem I have with retro- styling. How do you go forward when the designs have gone backwards. Maybe they should do a retro 5.0 mustang from the late '80's to mid '90's. Same holds true for the Camaro and Challenger, what's next? My honest opinion is that they shouldn't have gone retro with the designs and just made an overall better car than the previous to begin with.

Let the Mustang styling stay in the past and let the new progressive more sophisticated buyer such as myself buy it. It styling fits the look that I look, let's move forward and compete.

Just for someone else who commented, Ford sold Jaguar to Tata Motors about 5 years ago, Jags however are still designed and built in Britain. In regards to this car, it looks like someone has taken the new Fusion/Mondeo squashed it and stretched it and slapped Mustang badges on it. The finished article will look nothing like this.

I love the looks of the latest generation of Mustang! No question that Ford has done an awesome job from the nice retro interior to the entire exterior. I do have to admit however, that I also think they goofed when they changed the rear of, I believe, the 2011 or 2012 model with the upward cuts in the rear corners as I prefer the 2010 and down rear bumpers much more! As for the new iteration being considered, maybe I am weird, but I LOVE IT!! I normally do not agree with "change is good", however, in this case, as much as I love the existing generation of Mustang, I think the new one is so different and sporty looking that I REALLY love it!. Yes, it does bear resemblance to the Aston Martin, but what is wrong with that? The A/M is a gorgeous expensive sports car. I see nothing wrong with Ford copying it at all! I say right on, FORD!! Go for it!! As long as there is still a LOT of horsepower, TQ, and turbo and/or Supercharging options, with 6-speed sticks still available (I hate woosie weenie-matic), I would be VERY happy to have one! I hoipe Ford keeps this entire design!

The side glass looks like a throw back from the first generation Datsun 240 Z cars of the early 1970s (for those of us that are old enough to remember them). The grille reminds me of a fishes mouth,I don't much care for the tail of the car either. Even the Mustang II looked more like a Mustang than this one. Where is that old familiar Mustang mystique? I think the designers over at Ford dropped the ball with THIS one?

I am sure that the people Bi$%#ing about the style are not in the market to but anyway. My 1st and 2nd car was a Mustang and I have spent a tone of money on Fords. I co-sign on the design. I think Ford reached in thier bag of tricks and came up with an impressive combination. Its not like they stole the design, they own Aston Martin too "genius in training". They have done retro and touched on different models too.. Time to change the game! I want to see the interior! Whats going to really be interesting is to see what Chevy answers with because they don't have and arsenal like that so they will have to counter with something totally new.. Personally I like the Aston Martin look with the Mustang grille... works for me but it does take the Mustang in a non retro direction that will be uncomfortable for many enthusiasts, and I understand that as well. I do not think they have exhausted the possibilities in the current theme it could be lower and also draw more influence in the rear from the 67 68 fastback cars. Sure like the nose on this new one though. Rick Nelson about summed it up in the song Garden Party... people are not always open to change. And yeah I am pretty sure I would buy one.

Ford has described the Mustang as: An American Only car and is not inline with their global sales standings. They said they need to design the Mustang for the world market. This is what was said at the 2012 Chicago Auto Show and this was the "NEW" concept. I guess Fords design studios are outsourced to Australia. Date of photos are JULY 11, 2011??!!!

A beautiful car to be but as most above have stated it is not a "Mustang". If anything "Mustang" implies an "American" look as opposed to this "European" looking car. If they stick with this design they should either revive a "dead" badge or create a new one. Hell even the 2007 Italdesign Giugiaro Mustang looked more "American" than this design. And the 2007 looks more "American" than the 1965 Bertone Mustang

From what I'm seeing with all these negative comments, unless the 2015 Mustang, like the current one, is a slightly altered clone of the designs of the late 60's, it's going to be generally despised. I disagree. I liked the old 'Stangs as much as anyone, but it's time to move on and ditch this retro look once and for all. Perhaps this concept drawing isn't the answer, but at least it looks a bit less dated than the current offering, and if it does have a vague resemblence to the Aston Martin, is that all that terrible? Ford needs a less dated looking pony car IMO, but I suspect that they'll succumb to the negativity of the purists and produce another one that appeals to the retro bunch.

Avatar By: Cobranut

I like this look. The old-fashioned brick shape of the current Stang is getting a bit long in the tooth. I just hope they keep their commitment to get the size and weight WAY DOWN and up the power output of the Coyote motors, including the V6. And give us an independent suspension for God's sake. Forget the Camaro, I'd like to see the Mustang start competing with the Corvette in the performance department.

Why do people keep saying that it's "Not a Mustang"?? The fact is, Ford had painted itself into a corner with the current Mustang. They have to update the platform to one that is superior from an engineering standpoint. The Mustang is a volume car that, unlike the Porsche 911 and Corvette, have to produce a PROFIT for the company. How many times can you "facelift" an aging design? Ford realizes that they need to appeal to the new, younger buyers as the previous fans grow older. Get used to it..the next Mustang will bear little resemblance to the old one, and that's how it should be. Just smart business.

While this rendering is SO much better than Ford's Ghastly Taurus of 1996, it is leaning on "current car" cliches. 1) Do you really need to slam back the headlight corners, which is a very tiresome over-used look. It is Not attractive. I do like the aggressive "cant", yet I'm in no-way sold on camera lens headlights. (You obviously haven't had one of these cars behind you at night. The car behind me was a Volvo, and I don't know if the car had bad shocks or what, but it constantly flickered when the car hit any rough spot in the road. It was like a very old movie flicker from the 1920's!!! 2) Keep life simple, put OUR people to work making good-old rectangular or round GLASS plug in & go headlight bulbs, which go in from the OUTSIDE using something called screws. Efficient! 3) Havent we had enough of the Bubble-butt styling? If it has to jut outward, try a nice center crease! & re-work the Taillights! When stylists come up with something that hot-rodders like, then those are good taillights! Weird- taffy-pull shapes aren't that good. Come up with new versions of "Bullet" lenses. How about those puffed rectangle lenses Ford made famous? Use a little imagination!! If you want the lenses to last, make 'em of glass! 4) The body of the Mustang rendering has a myraid of dips & curves. Fun to Wash when dirty! At a time when people seem to only want quick wash & go cars, consider that some of us want a little more individualized transportation!! You NEED to consider industries that you have seriously hurt over the past nearly 25 years! We have NO chrome bumpers, yet the current crap falls off and lays there! We have NO interesting rooflines, everything is a humpy sedan, no vinyl roof covering, no eye-catching interior colors. It's all now Crap! Wheels. You must LOVE giant blackwalls and huge rims. The rotors hanging-out isn't as bad as it once was, but C'MoN! Let's be a little more interesting! It's SAD, as if when the Berlin Wall fell, (1989) all of our American Auto industry took on a mandated persona of BLAND over the next few years - and it Has NOT gone away!!

Wow, not to bad looking if Ford wants the Mustang to look like a foreign wigger car??? If this is what it is going to look like it will be a BIG disappointment for the 50th anniversary and i will definitely keep my documented 1 of 1 07 GT/CS California Special!!!!!!!!!

Horrible shit man. My 2011 5.0 and 68 Coupe are Mustangs. Don't know what that pos in the above pic is, but it's not a Stang man. Repulsive and insulting to the Stang legend

The designers must be all driving an ASTON MARTIN or a JAGUAR... In stead of a Mustang..... Or at least are dreaming a lot of them!!, If they would put a Mustang lable on this they don't respect the Stang at all.... Shame on them. (btw as a car it doesnt look bad, I love Astons and Jag's)

delete those for your computers now ford. It looks nothing like a mustang it has a genesis front end and the rest is competely aston martin. Come on are the designers just using a program that you though some cars into and it make random mixed renderings.

I hate this as a Mustang more than I hated the idea of a 4 door Charger or a V6 muscle car. You know, this would probably have a V6 too so, might as well burn it.

The Mustang is the last good thing Ford hasn't destroyed in one way or the other. PLEEEEEAAAAAAASSSSSSSSSSEEEEEEEEEEE dont destroy it with this!!!!! Youre designing a Mustang not a nissanor hyundai........Cummon man, who ever approves this design deserves to be fired along with you!

Genesis/Aston Martin DBS . Is Ford running to be like others or is innovation still a selling point?

Aston Martin owners may have serious issues with this design ... never been a Ford guy but with the Aston Martin-esque thing going on I actually rather like it ... add this look to that too-well-known Mustang exhaust rumble and then you really would have a really impressive vehicle!

No way, I waited for years for the idiots in Detroit to get the Mustang back. This car could stand on it own legs but the Mustang style is no where to be found. I don't for the life of me know why when you have a style that people have been begging for that you are going back to chasing that Euro trash look. Leave the body alone and it you feel you must change something drop some more HP and watch as your profits go up. Last remember 1975, need I say more.

That, looks nothing like a mustang. Well thats what happens when foreign british bloke engineers from aston martin take over. Not saying aston martins are bad... they are just not Fords or mustangs.

I work at a ford dealer and we got the 2013 fusion in a few days ago. It looks very similar to this. I don't like them at all!

I've always been a fan of Mustangs! But this is not a Mustang... This looks a cross breed etween an Aston Martin & a Genesis! Not that I dont like either of those cars, they are both awsome in their own ways.... it's just to me this is a "foreign" look! Not the traditional "bulky" muscle look that Mustangs have always had.... Especially since 2005-present! Please Ford, think about the design of this iconic muscle car! Do you really want it to start looking like every other "generic" foreign car out there? I know I don't! And I'm sure many others will agree! Nice design.... But not for a Mustang! Next!

Man whats with all the hate, its not going to look exactly like that. But its a redesign it doesnt look like a mustang? Well it does take some styling cues from the current generation, and its a redesign it doesnt look like a mustang well for 30 years the mustang didnt look like a mustang then. Its a good looking car, what is wrong with taking information you already know about aerodynamics and performance in one division and applying it to another division in the company. Im sure youll be convinced once you take that baby around the track. Its 2015 people if you think its going to look like a car that is in production today you dont understand what a redesign is

wow. such a broad spectrum of opinions.... for those that think Ford needs to keep pumping out retro 'Stangs, they won't sell. Ford is always at the leading edge, maybe the new design will grow on you!
