Do you ever fear that you're reaching that tipping point where you're liking the demolished beauty of rotting junkyard hulks as much as you love the super-shiny look of perfectly restored show cars? This guy has turned the fascination with junk into a serious for-profit hobby, recreating the ravages of automotive decomposition on the hundreds of "distressed" scale-model cars he builds to sell on Etsy. What's really amazing is his process, which you can see in the video below the jump. I love the little details he adds, like ripped and falling headliners, and check out the dripping-corrosion look he recreates at about 2:10: that gold marker ends up looking just like the algae that develops old parked cars in the Pacific Northwest! See his selection of models for sale at Classic Wrecks, via Werd.

I don't think I can bear to see these models rotting away in my 1/16th scale cornfield!!

It's very sad to see all those classic cars just rotting away. It's cool that this guy pays tribute to those cars

Cool! Neat models. I used to make some wrecks back in my modeling days by heating the plastic with a torch and making dents and damage. Nothing as cool as this guy, though.
