The forecast called for 50 degrees on Saturday, just what I needed to make some progress on the Eclipse. I wanted to work on the nose and do something about the unsightly holes left from the previous owner's New Jersey tags. I needed to fix the license plate light and was looking for a frame that wasn't gaudy and didn't obscure the top and bottom margins of the tag. I found a very cool double LED frame for only $20 that's nice and thin. It also lights the tag and turns red with the brake lights. More pics and a night-time video of it in action below the jump!

For the front of the car, my instinct was to fix the license plate holes and repaint the nose, but what if I eventually sell the car to a Jersey driver? I'm near the Delaware line, so that chance is 50/50 and I would be wasting my time. I put on a new frame and a custom tag instead, and I painted the front valance to continue the black from the rockers, as well as the two plastic "vent" inserts on each side under the signals, which easily popped out for painting. If the color of the car or its design allows, painting the valance can really freshen a car's appearance since the paint on that part of the car gets the most daily abrasion.

I'm Nearing the finish line and still under $2000 on this one.
