Mercedes-Powered '54 Buick

What do you do if you wanna beat around in an old '50's GM but you're accustomed to the Euro-refined feel of your Mercedes G55 SUV? One option might be to wreck the G55, then have Troy Trepanier build you a custom 1954 Buick cruiser around the SUV's salvaged drivetrain. Troy is the same guy who built the incredible Blowfish, and as car-over-truck-drivetrain builds at this year's SEMA show go, the Buick is arguably a little classier than that AWD Camaro you guys loved so much. But the downfall of the Buick, which gets points for its perfect stance, custom Art Morrison chassis, and chocolately two-tone BASF paint job, is that that drivetrain has been adapted so as to power only the rear wheels. Excellent restoration. Idk about the Mercedes engine, seems unnecessary but I guess I can dig it

I love the subtle updates. It just seems to flow by keeping it clean. The interior is well done blending both modern and classic cues, not to forget updated technology. I'm sure that the Mercedes powerplant will not only give the HP, but also bestow a smooth idle quality that would've been hard to match with a SBC. The engine bay looks super clean and uncluttered. Normally, I'd advise any '50s ride to use whitewalls, but that would just ruin it here. The rims are modern but look old, and who can resist the use of the more modern Buick script??

Why not a GM engine? Why a Mercedes POS? You like have something difficult and expensive to maintain and unreliable?

My first car was a 1985 Buick Somerset and it had almost the same paint job! I would've loved to have been able to own them as a pair!

Anyone else pick up on the 'AMG'd' stylization of the Buick script?
