Yeah, I'm not a fan of kits that turn cars into something they're not. There are so many kits available for my Fiero it almost makes me sick. Why can't people just enjoy the lines of the car they have? I don't mind doing bodywork (ie making side scoops, hood vents, and the like), but I feel the car should still be recognizable for what it is. And a FWD Veyron?!? Gimme a break!! The last gen Cougar wasn't even worthy to wear the hallowed prancing cat, let alone a Bugatti emblem.

The car is dimensionally not correct, so its obvious its not a veyron. The person that built this car did a great job on the bodywork. It is pretty impressive actually. Not that I would believe it is a real bugatti, but the creator did a great job on the bodywork.

This is very impressive. I'd take it, but at the very least, one of Ford's 5.0 engines or maybe a supercharged 4.6 should be installed.

Nice but I have noticed these guys always drop the ball in 3 areas- 1.engine( Most of the time they leave the WEAK donars car engine in it) 2.Wheels-Cheap wheels most of the time with the wrong offset 3. interior-Looks like they went on some crazy shopping spree at there local autozone... -address those and these would really be great cars

This was on Yahoo news, with a better article... The person that did this is 25 years old, and he made the only thing by Hand! Its not some kit he bought, he crafted the entire thing.

Looks great from far, he did do some amazing work. However he should have put in a better 6 cylinder engine than what a Cougar had to offer. I would have used a NEW engine, maybe a 370z or other comparables. I personally would not buy this car it a total fake. Why try and be someting you are not. The real Bugatti is worth over a million dollars, the average Joe earning even $100k per year could not afford this so why drive it to show off you have money, when people you know, know you don't have that kind of cash. Unless you're up front and put a decal on the car, 'Bugatti Veyron kit car'

Based solely on the pictures of the car. THIS GUY HAS TALENT & DID A GREAT JOB! It's not worth $89,000 for sure. Only because he didn't do any performance modications. It makes absolutely squirrel sense to do such an exotice kit & not soup the motor up or better yet do a swap. I wouldn't have put chrome rims on it though. If anything powdercoat the face but leave the lips chrome. I really like the car for what it is worth. It's a kit car. Put a supercharged motor in it & it's a go for me. I would drive but wouldn't buy it. Guys with 300 C's & Fiero;s do this stuff all the time with their fake Bentley & Lambo kits.

Being European i'm not impressed with the bodywork at all. It looks nothing like a Veyron. The proportions are all wrong. I wouldn't want it for free because you look like a loser driving this fake thing.

I am not a fan of the Veyron or the Cougar, but if your huge fan of the Bugatti Veyron this would be a way to have one on a budget. Lets face it, the majority of people would not know it is not real. I really don't see how this is any worse then any other kit car. The price of the car likely reflects what he has into it. Building a replica to this level is not cheap. He likely expects to get far less for it. I think the new owner will score it for far less, and for what he pays he will have a major head turner, that will be a dependable nice car to cruise around in and more importantly be seen in What car nuts often forget is that the majority of people don't care how fast a car is ;) Most Kit Cars are based on the Pontiac Fiero which was a Chevrolet Citation drivetrain with Chevette front suspension. The Cougar although not exotic car quick, is really not a bad car. 2001 Merc Cougar does 0-60 mph 7.7 / Quarter mile 15.9. 1988 Pontiac Fiero GT 0-60 mph 8.6 / Quarter mile 16.2. 1984 Pontiac Fiero SE 0-60 mph 10.6 / Quarter mile 17.5. Note: I owned a Fiero, not a hater.

89 grand for a Veyron is a bargain, besides who in their right mind would drive a $1 million car at 250 mph, and where would you do it. I wouldn't buy one turn-key, but it might be a neat father-son project on a budget for someone, besides, my penis is the perfect size for my wife, so I don't have to compensate.

This is a cheap in wolf's clothing. The Merc Cougar had this impotent, weak little V-6 that most civics performed. However, if the dude would let me buy it with fake money, it would be fair deal.

I saw a white and silver Veyron on the 101 south here in Southern California stuck in bumper-to-bumper traffic... if you want to talk about a waste of money... THAT is a waste... paying $1million for a car that has to site idling in traffic... I wouldn't pay $89K for this... I wouldn't buy it at all... and I think you guys would be easier on him if he wasn't trying to sell it (especially for $89k) and was just showing the work he did... to that, I say hats off... wallets closed

Gotta give props for the skill the boy has. I agree that he should consider designing a unique body for chassis that is worth it (something newer or with potential for power upgrades) He could also consider putting this skill to use and go into business for himself teaming up with a "motor head"/tuner and design some concept rides.

The real Veyron uses 50 year old technology in the engine, also found in Ford Super duty dump truck engines.

They actually make a Veyron kit based on the BMW 650...which is probably a better knock off than using a damn Cougar...I'm just sayin'...LOL

$89k isn't too much money for a one-of-a-kind replica Veyron, assuming its one-of-a-kind. If the kit is buyable then it is a bit steep. That being said, I would NEVER buy one due to the fact that they chose a car with near zero performance potential as the basis for it. Whoever spent endless hours designing this for a Mercury Cougar clearly needs to give their head a shake. Why not base it off of the R35 GTR, S2000, or even an older car like the MKIV Supra, R32/33/34, or 3rd gen. RX7. At least these cars have the potential to produce the power to back up such a drastic body kit.

Man this is good stuff,and the funniest part about all of this is that,its not made up,someone actually did it, my goodness . What would be funny also is listening to it start up,and take off,and then watch a 89 Honda Civic Whoop up all over it,in a 1/4 mile .(Notice there's no one in the picture) Fun to look @ but painful to drive .

Its over priced for a kit car. No wonder it looks great. @ least its drivable so id asume that it has been approved by an engineer to be road worthy? You would have to ask the seller though. For this kind of project with a supercar, youd need a worked 1000hp engine, so in saying that, it would have been better off if he had a shell of a 2002 mercury, if he bought this particular model, just to create a kit car out of, because the shell of the mercury wouldnt be worth any more then $5000, so the price his got on his car is rediculous. If his not broke now, can someone do him a favour & lineup a mechanic & engine, so that it can have a 1000hp engine & a desent tranny, because his mercury isnt worth shit as is, but the veyron kit is worth something.
