Under the composite and fiberglass body is a bone stock 2002 Mercury Cougar, with the 2.5 liter V6 and auto tranny. And unlike a real Veyron, this thing has a back seat! Price? Just $89,000! Check it out at eBay! Via Yahoo News

By: iTurbo 7/17/2011 10:06 AM ridiculous. i hate kit cars. if you don't like your car, get a different one! no one needs a slow ass veyron |
By: retroman 7/17/2011 10:29 AM Yeah, I'm not a fan of kits that turn cars into something they're not. There are so many kits available for my Fiero it almost makes me sick. Why can't people just enjoy the lines of the car they have? I don't mind doing bodywork (ie making side scoops, hood vents, and the like), but I feel the car should still be recognizable for what it is. And a FWD Veyron?!? Gimme a break!! The last gen Cougar wasn't even worthy to wear the hallowed prancing cat, let alone a Bugatti emblem. |
By: iTurbo 7/17/2011 10:42 AM that's exactly why i won't buy any body kits for my z. i like a body kit that will compliment the body, not change it completely! |
By: GetTheClicker 7/17/2011 11:44 AM It's a sheep in wolve's clothing! |
By: TDWPgtp 7/17/2011 11:51 AM aside from the fact that it costs 90K and would lose to a old taurus, it seems like he did a pretty decent job on it, as dumb as it is. oddly enough, this isnt the first cougar-based "bugatti" that ive seen. i wonder if its the same creator |
By: usnrocker 7/17/2011 11:53 AM guy shoulda kept his mouth shut bout what it started life out as and just drove it.... i mean at first glance it looks like the real deal.... soo why not milk it for all its worth? i mean i know a guy who drives a FFR Cobra and gets tail all day long.... |
By: GTwildfire 7/17/2011 12:04 PM I got nothing but respect for someone who could do this. |
By: iTurbo 7/17/2011 12:23 PM usnrocker- yeah you're right about that, but the gig is up once someone wants to race |
By: BigMike3023 7/17/2011 1:04 PM Gotta admit though, that exterior looks pretty damn clean as far as kit cars go. I think he could get around 25K for that thing, but $89K, get the heck outta here! |
By: usnrocker 7/17/2011 1:12 PM yeah... but for a weekend cruiser to pick up girls it would work... as long as they have never seen pics of the real ones interior.... |
By: Shmak1982 7/17/2011 1:40 PM Damn. Did a great job, but what a waste... |
By: tazgts 7/17/2011 3:26 PM Hahahaha yeah, I bet it sounds just like a W16 Quad Turbo too huh? |
By: Hour13GT 7/17/2011 3:58 PM Let's see. I've got $89K burning a hole in my pocket, what to buy, what to buy? New cars in my price range... Corvette? Viper? Porche? Shelby GT500? Or maybe a Vintage Musclecar? Oh I know! I'll buy a car that (mostly)LOOKS like a mega-exotic, but sounds, handles, rides, and accelerates like the 4cyl FWD piece of crap used econobox that it really is. Frikin sweeeeeet. |
By: usnrocker 7/17/2011 4:03 PM Hour13.... its a V6..... but the rest of that is an accurate discription of hte car... |
By: dktran31 7/17/2011 5:59 PM lol!! |
By: dktran31 7/17/2011 6:00 PM they could of at least changed the engine! i mean damn, at least put a stronger V8 in or something.... |
By: M45lover 7/17/2011 9:49 PM All that fabrication, and he couldn't drop a V8 in there? If you're going to go this far, might as well go a little farther and change it to FR and a real engine. Impressive nonetheless. |
By: ___nes___ 7/17/2011 10:23 PM Should've dropped a twin Turbo v8 up front and a Porsche Turbo engine on the back. |
By: Hour13GT 7/17/2011 11:01 PM "Its easy to maintain and cost affordable. I feel these are some of the most important things for sure." ... "I get so many questions asking how fast is the car. My best reply is fast enough. It is not a rocket ship." LMAO!!! These are actual quotes from the listing! From the guy selling this $89,000 nine year old Mercury Cougar! BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!! |
By: audi06sline 7/17/2011 11:30 PM The car is dimensionally not correct, so its obvious its not a veyron. The person that built this car did a great job on the bodywork. It is pretty impressive actually. Not that I would believe it is a real bugatti, but the creator did a great job on the bodywork. |
By: reyno626 7/18/2011 5:36 AM This is very impressive. I'd take it, but at the very least, one of Ford's 5.0 engines or maybe a supercharged 4.6 should be installed. |
By: timpalass 7/18/2011 7:52 AM Nice. I don't understand the use of a slow ass cougar though. |
By: kp0504 7/18/2011 10:01 AM ....But...why bother? |
By: cknarf 7/18/2011 12:38 PM It actually looks okay, considering the Veyron is already fuck-ugly to begin with. Still, 89k? That's insane! |
By: trill77monte 7/18/2011 2:26 PM Nice but I have noticed these guys always drop the ball in 3 areas- 1.engine( Most of the time they leave the WEAK donars car engine in it) 2.Wheels-Cheap wheels most of the time with the wrong offset 3. interior-Looks like they went on some crazy shopping spree at there local autozone... -address those and these would really be great cars |
By: vajberg 7/18/2011 9:35 PM really?! wow, really?! |
By: ZC-280 7/19/2011 12:09 AM Would be embarrassing to drive having no power. |
By: Danielroque02 7/19/2011 7:03 AM If you got the money for a complete mod like that, why not get a better car. I hate kit cars stupid idea |
By: Jake_ak_cent 7/19/2011 9:46 AM Dumb idea, and he should have seriously dropped in a V8 or something. You could have even picked up a BMW V12 or Jaguar V12 for cheap and tried to squeeze that in there. For real. Really dumb car. A guy with those fabrication skills could easily be doing something better. |
By: Mbeezy3405 7/19/2011 10:05 AM Whats the point? i mean i get customkit cars and old replicas but new vehicle kits are just cheap and gross. IMO of course. |
By: FlightStatus 7/19/2011 11:01 AM What if the car had the total package, the performance, and the look? Then what? |
By: jbluetc08 7/19/2011 1:03 PM you can polish a terd but it's still a P.O.S.. Turned an ugly car into an even uglier car. What a waste of money. Did you at least do some sort of engine work to make it move? |
By: jbluetc08 7/19/2011 1:05 PM 89000 bucks could have gotten a gtr and you wasted your money on that pos! noone in their right mind will buy that thing.. |
By: Showboattt 7/19/2011 11:48 PM kool looking car, too bad he drove it into the ground before trying to selling it. 120,000 miles! nada for a 2002 mercury cougar is only $3500, he is selling this for $89,000.00. ouch! |
By: mrjasonlyrics 7/20/2011 4:58 AM Clearly this guy is on something strong.Who the hell is gonna pay 89k for a fake car.Just imagine spending that much on a car and there's Honda's that would out run you.If you have 89k to spend on a replica then you should add some more and get a real super car. |
By: trimblair 7/20/2011 5:10 AM WOW - he did an amazing job. That looks really good. The price is what it is. I see these kit cars asking high dollars all the time, "Ferrari body on a 280Z" or "anything on a ferraro chassis". They aren't my thing, but if they do a FAST AND FURIOUS 6 ... he might get $60k out of it so they can't wreck it on film! Those guys were paying $75k for kits for FAST 5. All-in-all ... well done. |
By: lilhavin301 7/20/2011 5:11 AM I wonder if this thing has wind-up windows. lol |
By: mrjasonlyrics 7/20/2011 5:23 AM The car is a 2.5liter automatic V6. Buddy there's honda's that would erase your slow car.And those are some cheap ass rims no more than $2000.Why customize a discontinued and try to sell it?Clearly you hate the car.How long did you own it?I hope you're reading the feedbacks because you need to know how much this project was a waste of your time and money.Lmfao,89k!!! |
By: my97tbird 7/20/2011 5:24 AM There are a couple comments that are so true I mean if that's the actual pic of the car that guy def has talent and should put it to use he could have made a replica batmobile or K.I.T.T. (Knight Industries Two Thousand, Knight Rider) something worth it not a P.O.S. cougar I mean really. If I had 89,000 for a car I def wouldn't buy a fake u could get a nice ride for that amount of $ instead of getting laughed at then ppl find out it's a fake n u tell um what u spent you'll be the butt of all the jokes in ur neighborhood LOL. But really he def has alot of talent I'll give him that..... |
By: StreetDemonzCC 7/20/2011 5:26 AM This was on Yahoo news, with a better article... The person that did this is 25 years old, and he made the only thing by Hand! Its not some kit he bought, he crafted the entire thing. |
By: SilverBullit99 7/20/2011 5:32 AM Looks great from far, he did do some amazing work. However he should have put in a better 6 cylinder engine than what a Cougar had to offer. I would have used a NEW engine, maybe a 370z or other comparables. I personally would not buy this car it a total fake. Why try and be someting you are not. The real Bugatti is worth over a million dollars, the average Joe earning even $100k per year could not afford this so why drive it to show off you have money, when people you know, know you don't have that kind of cash. Unless you're up front and put a decal on the car, 'Bugatti Veyron kit car' |
By: kabirvdutt 7/20/2011 5:42 AM OMG....................dese ppl really dont hve any other thing to do....Why can't they just design a car of their own instead of wasting Fiber on sumthin thats already made |
By: islam_bikaso 7/20/2011 5:46 AM @ iTurbo totally agree |
By: ronoc 7/20/2011 5:50 AM Nice of him to put a fuel door on both sides of the car. |
By: JSMITHTAMPA 7/20/2011 6:15 AM This is by far the most ridiculous thing I've ever seen. For $90,000 I'd just get a 911 & call it a day. In fact my boy has a white 1 on his lot right now @ MirabellaMotors.net. This dudes drunk, but the funny thing is some 1 will buy it & I just hope it doesn't end up n Tampa! |
By: Neil123 7/20/2011 6:17 AM Based solely on the pictures of the car. THIS GUY HAS TALENT & DID A GREAT JOB! It's not worth $89,000 for sure. Only because he didn't do any performance modications. It makes absolutely squirrel sense to do such an exotice kit & not soup the motor up or better yet do a swap. I wouldn't have put chrome rims on it though. If anything powdercoat the face but leave the lips chrome. I really like the car for what it is worth. It's a kit car. Put a supercharged motor in it & it's a go for me. I would drive but wouldn't buy it. Guys with 300 C's & Fiero;s do this stuff all the time with their fake Bentley & Lambo kits. |
By: 13265 7/20/2011 6:22 AM Being European i'm not impressed with the bodywork at all. It looks nothing like a Veyron. The proportions are all wrong. I wouldn't want it for free because you look like a loser driving this fake thing. |
By: Dilberto 7/20/2011 6:42 AM Only Mexicans do such a thing. It's Ghetto Motorsport, at its best! |
By: VeilsideMiataC1 7/20/2011 6:43 AM You know my 96' mazda looks real clean from a far too....I bet that thing is so haggard up close..and yes once again u can polish a turd but it's still a piece of shit...haha reminds me of I chick I knew in high school who went and had a makeover!!!! |
By: peteswrxturbo 7/20/2011 6:53 AM I could see $89k if it had a better drivetrain. I completely understand the people complaining that if you want a different body style to go buy one, but not everyone has $1.2 million sitting around to blow on a Veyron. With a stock motor and FWD the car is a joke. Lets see a supercharged V8 in there in a mid engine layout with AWD, then maybe $89k. For now I see aybe $20k for some high school kids graduation present. |
By: djfrippery 7/20/2011 7:00 AM Sure i'll buy it for 89 bucks! ...89K?!?! What are you out of your f$&@in mind?!?! |
By: cingular007 7/20/2011 7:25 AM $89,000 For a fake!! I wouldn't pay $20,000 for it, but there are a lot dumb f..ks that would love to have you believe they own that million dollar car parked in the drive way of there trailer home. |
By: JL-KA 7/20/2011 7:41 AM Asking price is just stupid. I admire the work that went into it though. Wish I had that much skill. If I'm gonna build a replica it's not going to be one that's based on another car. I'd much rather build a Factory Five '33 Hot Rod. Those can actually perform. |
By: rpicena07 7/20/2011 7:56 AM ya phuckers are stupid, thats a CUSTOM car, thats what the custom car scene is about, WHAT IF HE WOULD HAVE SAID "CUSTOM MADE REPLICA CAR" CUSTOM FRAME, BODY KIT, ETC ETC, SURE THE PRICE IT A LIL TOO MUCH (TOO MUCH) maybe if it had the HP, suspension, you know the works then ya dumb phucks would shut the hell up! but all ya have to run is your mouth, real car enthusiast would appreciate the work and just move on! |
By: el_muerte 7/20/2011 8:12 AM 89k for a shoddy replica that doesn't look the same and doesn't have near the same performance? For that money I'll buy two AC Cobra replicas that look identical to the original and put, I dunno, four or five hundred horsepower to the pavement |
By: IMACHU2J 7/20/2011 8:27 AM I am not a fan of the Veyron or the Cougar, but if your huge fan of the Bugatti Veyron this would be a way to have one on a budget. Lets face it, the majority of people would not know it is not real. I really don't see how this is any worse then any other kit car. The price of the car likely reflects what he has into it. Building a replica to this level is not cheap. He likely expects to get far less for it. I think the new owner will score it for far less, and for what he pays he will have a major head turner, that will be a dependable nice car to cruise around in and more importantly be seen in What car nuts often forget is that the majority of people don't care how fast a car is ;) Most Kit Cars are based on the Pontiac Fiero which was a Chevrolet Citation drivetrain with Chevette front suspension. The Cougar although not exotic car quick, is really not a bad car. 2001 Merc Cougar does 0-60 mph 7.7 / Quarter mile 15.9. 1988 Pontiac Fiero GT 0-60 mph 8.6 / Quarter mile 16.2. 1984 Pontiac Fiero SE 0-60 mph 10.6 / Quarter mile 17.5. Note: I owned a Fiero, not a hater. |
By: HeavyC1 7/20/2011 8:32 AM i have to say this is a pretty impressive looking job, too bad this guy didint just design his own car, with the skill he has he could make some sick cars. I have to agree tho, i dont like it, gutless as hell and is a poser car for someone who cant afford the real thing. I can only afford a 95 camaro, but i would never make it look like a ferarri. |
By: RLowFi 7/20/2011 8:40 AM You could impress only FAKE people with a FAKE car. Hats off to the body work people - Great bodywork, but the car looks extremely cheap vs. the real car. Pure waste of time and money. PS: Hit cars suck anyways, were not in the 70’s anymore. |
By: RLowFi 7/20/2011 8:42 AM Also note if your really wanted to spend near $90K for a Ford you could actually buy and 05 or 06 FORD GT super car for that amount of money these days. Thats the only Ford worth it! |
By: kozy 7/20/2011 9:24 AM 89 grand for a Veyron is a bargain, besides who in their right mind would drive a $1 million car at 250 mph, and where would you do it. I wouldn't buy one turn-key, but it might be a neat father-son project on a budget for someone, besides, my penis is the perfect size for my wife, so I don't have to compensate. |
By: noonrock 7/20/2011 9:31 AM This is a cheap in wolf's clothing. The Merc Cougar had this impotent, weak little V-6 that most civics performed. However, if the dude would let me buy it with fake money, it would be fair deal. |
By: Chevy_thang88 7/20/2011 10:26 AM reading all these comments...man there is A LOT of HATERS up in here!!! jealous much? |
By: akura2 7/20/2011 10:28 AM OK.... I can give the guy props for the execution... Content.. that's another story... but on the other hand the car (opposite of what our European counterpart above [13265] mentioned) doesn't look THAT far off from a real Veyron here's a pic of a real one at almost the same angle http://www.supercarpark.com/pics/Bugatti_Veyron_400X266.png The only thing that chaps me about the look is that he could have gone with bigger, nicer wheels, with more offset, especially in the rear to fill out the wheel wells better and make the wheels flush with the fenders... if he went deep dish, staggered, and monochromatic with a simple spoke pattern (and lowered) this car could look sick... I saw a white and silver Veyron on the 101 south here in Southern California stuck in bumper-to-bumper traffic... if you want to talk about a waste of money... THAT is a waste... paying $1million for a car that has to site idling in traffic... I wouldn't pay $89K for this... I wouldn't buy it at all... and I think you guys would be easier on him if he wasn't trying to sell it (especially for $89k) and was just showing the work he did... to that, I say hats off... wallets closed |
By: ucblack2 7/20/2011 11:00 AM Gotta give props for the skill the boy has. I agree that he should consider designing a unique body for chassis that is worth it (something newer or with potential for power upgrades) He could also consider putting this skill to use and go into business for himself teaming up with a "motor head"/tuner and design some concept rides. |
By: vitalik_604 7/20/2011 11:33 AM sounds like people here are Jealous!!!! haha, I like it. I wouldn't buy it for the price, but I like it, and give the guy props :) |
By: jdmitrswapped 7/20/2011 11:56 AM This is a disgusting waste. For what they are asking, at least put a 500hp monster under the hood. For that much you can get a Ferrari 355, 911 turbo or a new Z06 and have a Real iconic sports car. How embarrassing will it be when every car on the road will woop on this replica. |
By: bionemesis81 7/20/2011 12:52 PM I HATE FORDS > Disown My brother for them !O_O! But this Dude has skill .. All the shit talken i see here is just some crying ass people with NO Idid how to mod a car with there own two hands ... This kid did it ! I wouldent pay 90k for a car with 500 hp , But i would give 40k for this car so i can pick your GIRL's up and drive around like a FOOL .... |
By: Hardywo 7/20/2011 1:40 PM Automatic...really? Why is it so hard to find good manuals anymore? I really want a stick-shift charger- anybody else? |
By: petemonzta 7/20/2011 3:50 PM The 2.5 is also at home in the Jaguar lineup. |
By: petemonzta 7/20/2011 3:54 PM The real Veyron uses 50 year old technology in the engine, also found in Ford Super duty dump truck engines. |
By: ROSS500 7/20/2011 5:57 PM They actually make a Veyron kit based on the BMW 650...which is probably a better knock off than using a damn Cougar...I'm just sayin'...LOL |
By: ventura1 7/20/2011 6:02 PM $89k isn't too much money for a one-of-a-kind replica Veyron, assuming its one-of-a-kind. If the kit is buyable then it is a bit steep. That being said, I would NEVER buy one due to the fact that they chose a car with near zero performance potential as the basis for it. Whoever spent endless hours designing this for a Mercury Cougar clearly needs to give their head a shake. Why not base it off of the R35 GTR, S2000, or even an older car like the MKIV Supra, R32/33/34, or 3rd gen. RX7. At least these cars have the potential to produce the power to back up such a drastic body kit. |
By: 2006GreenEyez 7/20/2011 6:35 PM what y'all seem to realize is he built this car its not a kit so much respect to this dude but i wouldn't pay 90k for it specially 90k for a mercury not happenin lol do u know what u can b drivin for 90k (and it would be original) |
By: TonyBravo 7/20/2011 8:20 PM Man this is good stuff, and the funniest part about all of this is that, its not made up,someone actually did it, my goodness . What would be funny also is listening to it start up,and take off,and then watch a 89 Honda Civic Whoop up all over it,in a 1/4 mile .(Notice there's no one in the picture) Fun to look @ but painful to drive . |
By: Comrick317 7/20/2011 8:57 PM The problem is that i think the real Veyron is ugly ass so the replica is a waste of time too. It's a job well done but still an ugly ass car. |
By: ChaserX 7/21/2011 7:03 AM Its over priced for a kit car. No wonder it looks great. @ least its drivable so id asume that it has been approved by an engineer to be road worthy? You would have to ask the seller though. Id be imbaresed to drive it. Id rather buy a Chevrolet corvet @ that price. For this kind of project with a supercar, youd need a worked 1000hp engine, so in saying that, it would have been better off if he had a shell of a 2002 mercury, if he bought this particular model, just to create a kit car out of, because the shell of the mercury wouldnt be worth any more then $5000, so the price his got on his car is rediculous. If his not broke now, can someone do him a favour & lineup a mechanic & engine, so that it can have a 1000hp engine & a desent tranny, because his mercury isnt worth shit as is, but the veyron kit is worth something. Oh yeah, leather everything, sounds like the inside of the car looks as good as the outside but the back seats suck. Fk em off. No one should wants kids in the back seat, when there racing. What a pin dick lol. |
By: ChaserX 7/21/2011 8:05 AM Opps. Sh!t really, the mercury is only worth $3500 lol. It reminds me of Pimp My Ride hehe. |
By: OutskirtsCustoms 7/21/2011 10:14 PM JUNK, If they had done some performance upgrades to the drivetrain then it would be kinda cool but still not close to the real thing. It's like these lambo kits on a 4 banger fiero it don't look like a lambo, don't sound like a lambo, it's NOT a lambo. If it sounds like a pissed off briggs and stratton you're cover is blown. |
By: PathosBedlam 7/21/2011 10:42 PM If it don't sound legit it won't get any looks except those of disappointment. LOL. Waste of time and effort for a go nowhere car. If I had 89 grand to spend on a car, I'd rather make an electric car than buy this. |
By: shepdawg2001 7/22/2011 4:50 AM I am wondering why this person didn't take the next step further and do an engine swap? It seems if you are going to do that much work and spend the money to make it look like that, why not do the whole package? |
By: Josh429er 7/22/2011 12:02 PM You know whats really funny, I saw this a couple days before cardomain put it up. Me and a couple buddies were looking at the most ridiculous kit cars ever. We stopped after this one because I didn't think it could be topped. and apparently the autoholics thought so too. lol |
By: Josh429er 7/22/2011 12:04 PM You know what would be hilarious, If he put like a twin turbo 428CJ in it or something ridiculous and it actually went faster than the REAL Bugatti. lol |
By: dolla13 7/22/2011 4:50 PM i wouldnt but this but it does look damn good though. i cant see any cougar in this car anywhere. looks like the real deal. its not worth the 89k though cuz its slow as fuck but at least it looks nice. he shouldve did some major engine and trans work. better suspension and brakes too while ur at it. |
By: lmhanson 7/22/2011 10:01 PM all a car needs is a nice lip to make it look a little more aggressive. when you do dumb sh** like this guy did and expecting to sell for $89,000. that's just ridiculous. no 1 is pay that much for a fake. |
By: DodgeAdict 7/25/2011 1:22 PM Whis thang would be an awsome rich kids toy to drive to high school, who cares if a 87 Stang' beater can smoke it, its cool as f**k |
By: Spyke383 10/6/2011 6:26 AM at least when it breaks down it will look good at the side of the road |
