Shelby's Pocket Rockets
Redline Dodge is running a cool retrospective on the 2.2L compacts on which Carroll Shelby collaborated with Dodge in the 80s under Lee Iacocca. I've always wanted an Omni GLH, and I also kind of dig this Shelby Shadow (known as the CSX), which was mentioned in the article but not pictured. Interesting point: "Looking back, one could argue that Dodge and Shelby created the FWD Tuner market over two decades ago." Read the rest here.

The Car Show on SPEED: Will This Be It?

The Car Show might very well be the authentic gearhead programming we've all been waiting for: the very thing to mend our broken hearts after the excessively anticipated and perhaps unfairly burdened Top Gear USA left us hanging. What do you think: does The Car Show hold promise? Are Adam Carolla, Matt Farrah et al the guys you want to listen to about cars? Though the show's preview emphasizes banter, we know also that these guys are legitimate lifelong car enthusiasts--and that is the single most important ingredient for automotive programming that hits the right notes, that is genuine and relateable and gives us some good information to sink our teeth into, instead of just a lot of grab-ass and man-drama. I guess we're going to find out pretty soon: The Car Show's series premiere airs on SPEED on Wednesday July 13th at 10pm Eastern! Looks like a great show. I remember saying Adam Carolla should replace Adam Ferrara on Top Gear USA but I guess that's not going to happen now. I'll still watch Top Gear USA because I actually liked it even though I'm probably a select few since everybody wants to compare it so the original.

I don't have a good feeling about this. Mainly because they sit behind a desk like a bunch of halftime commentators.

think its funny how all car shows are measured against top gear...i dont think TG will ever be beaten though.

If the show is entertaining, that is to have the right chemistry between presenters, some humor or whatnot and covers what's interesting in the motoring world... it has a chance. -but even though it's not an extension of BBC's Top Gear, it will still be compared by regular watchers of that show.
