Brand X Engine In Brand Y: Sacrilege?

As most of you know, I’m a huge fan of old school muscle cars. Their looks are timeless, their sound is legendary and their attitudes simply can’t be matched. In short, they’re a way of life if you happen to own one. However living the muscle car lifestyle does not come without its headaches. For example, old school engines, while easy to work on, are simply not as reliable or efficient as anything that’s being produced today. Sure having big cubic inches under the hood sounds great, but in the end it gets tiresome paying $4.50 per gallon whilst only getting about 8-10 mpg on a daily basis. Recently at a car show I saw a gentleman with a 1973 Plymouth Road Runner with a modern day 400 hp Chevrolet LS2 under the hood. Now for some, sticking a brand X engine in a brand Y car is a huge no no, but after talking to the owner for a bit, the swap made perfect sense. Continue reading at RideLust to see why.

I don't really care. I do prefer to see Pontiac engines in Pontiac cars though... It bothers me when people see my Formula and immediately say "AW DAMN BET THAT'S A 350! (obviously assuming chevy...)" NO! 455. Motherf*cker. GTFO! - - If you wanna cram an LSX engine in your solstice, then go right ahead. That's awesome, but please, keep your 350s away from me and my Formula.

Classic car requires classic engine. It's like plastic surgery, just doesn't work for me. Take the bad with the good. And a Chev??

Jesus. The fucking spambots are killing this site, just like the adbots have already killed CarDomain. I am beginning to think the two sites admins don't give a shit anymore... pathetic.

I personally will keep my two "muscle cars" true to their roots. And yes, I'm aware that my Phoenix isn't really a muscle car as much as just a basic sedan, but it still came from the 70's and it will still get 70's Pontiac iron under the hood if and when I ever get to a situation where I can afford it. On the flip side, I have seen a lot of muscle cars with modern engines, transmissions, and suspensions and it don't bother me at all. To each his own (unless you do something incredibly stupid, then I'll say wtf?) Lol.

Meh his car he can do what he wants. Don't like it buy it from him and put the classic motor in it and deal with the 4-5$ a gallon gas prices

It shouldn't matter, but to me it does. A guy in my area built a nice 30's Ford and I have to say I was disappointed when I saw a Chevy 350 in the engine bay. Why not stick with Ford and use a 302 or 351W?
