This happened recently at a one mile drag race in Russia. The lowly 700 hp ZO6 left the 1,024 hp Swede in the dust and crossed the traps at over 198 mph. Just makes you feel good, doesn't it? Via Bangshift

By: NWSilverado 6/8/2011 8:06 AM Wow, at a half a million dollars i'd want my money back after being beat by a $70,000 Corvette!!! Bwah ha ha ha!!! Great video! Wish we had a drag track like that here! |

By: puhjay 6/8/2011 9:03 AM Fun to watch, but am i mistaken, is that not a n/a stock Z06 1/4 mile time?? Too much wheel spin? Sat on the Rev limiter too long? lol |
By: SouthernGuy8503 6/8/2011 9:27 AM puhjay - Ya looked like it was to much wheel spin but if you look the Vette got in front of the Koenigsegg while it was still spinning (easiest to see in the 3rd camera angle where it shows a rear view). That's even more embarrassing since the Vette would have murdered the Koenigsegg if the driver took off perfect. |

By: SouthernGuy8503 6/8/2011 9:29 AM Oh and before anybody says "lets see how they do in corners" the Corvette C6 Z06 and ZR1 can out handle the top exotics out there. |
By: 5henaniganz 6/8/2011 9:36 AM yet one more example of power to weight ratio vs high dollar exotic |

By: ilovethestig 6/8/2011 10:57 AM Southernguy- how did the zr1 fair against the gt-r in the corners?...http://www.roadandtrack.com/tests/comparison/culture-clash...the ccx would have NO problem raping the zo6 in the corners unless they did some serious suspension work to go along with the supercharger. |

By: ilovethestig 6/8/2011 11:01 AM the link is supposed to be http://www.roadandtrack.com/tests/comparison/culture-clash |

By: krush454 6/8/2011 11:02 AM Southernguy good job tellin people how it is! Just because you can get a vette for under 100grand doesnt mean its a shit car, they are damn well built cars! Glad to see it teach the exotics a lesson. Bet the Koenigsegg driver is feeling more than a little bummed. And seeing that the Vette spun for soo long at the start, you cant even say that the Vette only won because of a better driver, Im not doubting either driver, im saying that the Vette simply won hands down |
By: KustomKiely 6/8/2011 11:25 AM My vette would have beat them both, really not that impressive for the money they prob. have into them. |
By: SouthernGuy8503 6/8/2011 11:46 AM ilovethestig - Well it says access denied for me and I'm not going to make an account. Even if the Vette isn't the best which I'm not saying it is, it's still cheaper than any exotic out there so it would be plenty of room for even more improvement. Ya the GT-R is cheap but when you look at the maintenance it's not cheaper in the long run. I do remember a blog on cardomain talking about $1,000 for a simple oil and fluid change and that's if you did it yourself which would void the warranty if you did. Oh and the RWD Vette can hold it's own against AWD exotics that cost at a few times more. To me it's better to buy and build than to just buy. Anybody with money can buy performance, a real car guy will buy a Z06 and build it up to out perform the ZR1 and any exotic in both drag racing and cornering while being cheaper. |

By: HotHeadRacing 6/8/2011 12:56 PM watch the video again guys listen to the CCXR's engine the driver rolls out a good bit before he gets into the throttle hard. |
By: HotHeadRacing 6/8/2011 12:58 PM plus the reason the CCXR doent catch up is its set up for top speed while the Z06 is probably set up for acceleration |
By: timpalass 6/8/2011 1:08 PM Well, America is still good at something. |
By: HazzMatt 6/8/2011 1:22 PM ha get ryan woons supra and those 2 wont stand a chance.. |
By: amadoj 6/8/2011 2:21 PM awesome! |
By: XTZTwinTurbo 6/8/2011 3:58 PM this was a drivers race. It's obvious which car would win with equal driving skills |
By: BlueSapphire7981 6/8/2011 7:28 PM Gotta love those Bowties, American Muscle FTW! Sick video as well. |
By: BigMike3023 6/8/2011 8:55 PM Well the CCX is one of my favorite cars, but I agree with Rob. Seeing an American bred Chevy beat the pants of it sure does bring a smile to my face :))) |
By: piemaster007 6/8/2011 10:48 PM I'm fairly certain the Koenigsegg wasn't giving it even 80%. The Koenigsegg CCX (Not CCXR) holds fifth place on the Top Gear test track Power Board. Don't kid yourselves, people. Anyways, even if it was slower, I'd still want a Koegnigsegg over a Vette, and I'm sure most people outside of America would agree. |
By: GTwildfire 6/8/2011 11:23 PM aaaaw yeah. The Ksegg was probably running flat out. No accounting for driving but it does my heart good to see an exotic pushed to the side by one of ours. |
By: KrashingV8 6/9/2011 3:09 AM It looked like the guy in the CCXR was sandbagging to me. It didn't look that fast whereas the corvette was. |
By: Vuurwa 6/9/2011 4:40 AM I sure hope money is not playing a part here like in sports?.....Maybe it was a marketing gimmick?..to sell more Corvettes?...some guys this side of the `Big Pond` buy cars because they do good in Rallies...VW and Toyotas....i would hate paying so much money for a car and gets beaten by a Corvette...which costs a fraction of the prize of a Koenigsegg..the Corvette is no slouch of course, but i can`t imagine it would outrun a Koenigsegg... |
By: 2digits 6/9/2011 11:08 AM America! Pft... Gear ratios: Koenigsegg CCX - 2.875:1 1.652:1 1.125:1 0.865:1 0.711:1 0.604:1 3.000:1 Final:3.545:1 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 - 2.66 1.78 1.30 1.00 0.74 0.50 Final: 3.42... The results of this race aren't a shock a 4.7L Ford Motor in a car that weights more then a Corvette vs a 7.0L lighter car with forced induction, and better gear ratios... One was built as an all around contender, and the other was built to make exotics look stupid in a straight line, and is no sloth in the corners... Duh... take into consideration there 1/8mile times stock for stock are only .3 seconds different for the CCX then you add 195hp in the form of a supercharger, and you got yourself a classic mismatch |
By: 2digits 6/9/2011 11:11 AM I love the core values, and the idea of a cheap car beating a more expensive car. As much as the next guy; but I also value logic, and you can put copious amounts of money into a Viper, or a ZR1 and have it better in every way then a lot of exotics. But the harmony is never matched because the car was never built to be that good, and it won't be as drivable. There for it wont be as enjoyable. IMO |

By: 2digits 6/9/2011 11:14 AM Dammit its a CCXR key letter "R" all previous points are null, and void |
