Bumper stickers are one of those things that can make me laugh if they convey just the right wisecrack, but typically they are annoying and they devalue the appearance of any ride. However, sometimes a small sticker or window cling can be the cherry on top. We've all seen the overplayed Calvin peeing on ___'s, and the endless No Fears, which at this point are probably best stayed away from. What I've chosen from my rear window is small and subtle, but does a great job of getting my message across (that message being, basically, "if you show off in front of me, I will humiliate you and your car in front of your girlfriend"). I have a superman logo in the rear window of my Spirit R/T, alluding to its super-sedan status; a flag from the new Dodge commercials, one of the best ad campaigns ever; and a window cling depicting the Gadsden flag. This one is really cool, as it's one of America's earliest flags and has a ton of embedded symbolism, with its rattlesnake on either a yellow or red/white striped background and the words "Don't Tread on Me." In the Navy, we call it Jack and we fly it off the bow of every single warship. I keep it to show my patriotism, but also to show that again like a rattlesnake, I won't strike unless provoked, but if you start talking smack about my car, we will settle it at the track and I aim to win. Bottom line is, a carefully placed sticker or stickers can send the right message, and add a little attitide if done right. Just don't plaster your ride up unless you're going for the race car look or you happen to be heavily focused on the coming election (even then I wonder why. I still see John Kerry stickers occasionally). What about you: Do you use bumper stickers? If so, what message do you try to convey?

By: SuzyBruisy 5/31/2011 3:35 PM I have CarDomain window clingies in my AMC Eagle and my Escort GT. They look nice. I used to have a "Keep Your Moral Values Out Of My Uterus" sticker on my Eagle back when "moral values" were a big part of the political discussion, but it's not such a relevant term anymore so the sticker is long since gone. |

By: tazgts 5/31/2011 5:52 PM It's why I've never gotten a tattoo, it reminds me of slapping stickers on your car. Not my taste. |

By: cknarf 5/31/2011 5:57 PM I like bumper magnets. I had one that said "F*CK" for my olds once... and a ribbon that said "Support this!" with a middle finger. Lol... Da Boss didn't like those, so I just took them off when I got to work, and threw em on afterwards. "EAT SH*T AND DIE MOTHERF*****" was what my dad had on his old truck. It pissed EVERYONE off. People are such whiners! ...and that's why we do it. |

By: Mustagon 5/31/2011 7:54 PM I've got one bumper sticker from the last election, which masks a giant dent in my bumper that my brother put there. Hopefully both will be in the trash soon. I've even managed to find ways around having the university parking pass sticker on my truck... just one year left... |

By: BIG_CIVIC 6/1/2011 12:08 AM No stickers, but an emblem. I got the Union Jack emblem from the EP3 Civic TypeR and put it on the back of my Honda to show a little patriotism. |

By: livefreeanddie 6/1/2011 7:47 AM I remember back in the late 90's, it was those stupid dancing bears, and Alien heads. These days I see a lot of Montser, Rockstar, Metal Mullishia, and DC shoe stickers, and they're always in the corner of the window, and crooked. It's cheesy Vegas style sh*t. As an anti-trend, I was sporting a couple of late 70's vintage Hooker Headers decals on my Malibu's quarter windows. Gone now though. |

By: Reekesh 6/1/2011 9:33 AM I did drew a sticker by my own design, that is have a sticker of my own, that no other one would have. Some of you guys may see it on my previous E30 "Badboyz". But think that i grew up a bit during the years. For the last 3 or 4 cars, no sticker were applied to my rides. I wouldn't mind having a sticker of my own which will not be very flashy and which will say it in a word. My way of thinking is that if i had to stick a brand or shop name on me ride, it would mean that the brand of shop ought to pay me some cash or products for providing his publicity :) Cheers guys and girls.... NO OFFENCE |

By: hlavco 6/1/2011 9:56 AM I've got the standard "God Bless the USA" ribbon magnet on my truck's tailgate, and a Mets logo magnet on the passenger door to cover a chip in the paint. I like magnets because I can take them off whenever, but I don't really want to mess with stickers. |

By: jessejester117 6/1/2011 10:32 AM Bumper stickers are basically a way of saying, "Hey, let's never hang out" |
|
|
By: ShadoHHR 6/1/2011 11:09 AM Shun them all together, tackiest things next to duck-tape repairs! I did a nice pair of chrome biohazard badges on the fenders and left it at that. Anything more would just ruin the lines and the look. Though the right (if not subtle) window sticker can and will add a nice touch. Most people I know don't have to 'shout their colors' ... vehicles are like clothing; there is well-dressed and just tacky! |

By: SurgeCab22 6/2/2011 9:23 AM I had to laugh at the car at the top of the article, cause my Nova had a bumper completely covered in stickers! On my other cars I keep the decals to a minimum or at least only on the windows. http://www.cardomain.com/ride/2536650/1985-chevrolet-nova/page-2 |
