Ever tried to sell a car and gotten a deadbeat or a no-show? It's never happened to me, but the guy I bought my Eagle from on eBay just about cancelled the sale, so convinced he was that I was going to back out. I was like, I got your 500 bucks cash right here, what's the problem? Seems that backing out is a more common practice in automotive transactions in particular than in the general eBay/Craigslist weirdosphere.

This Ford Fiesta was "repose do to deadbeat buyer" (it took me a second to figure out what the guy was talking about). Has it ever happened to you? Or even worse, have you ever been that deadbeat yourself (and would you admit it)?

In the used car business, I see plenty of those folks firsthand. We call 'em strokers.

It seems like Craigslist is the worst for deadbeat callers. People will call up and say, "Dude, I'm literally around the corner and can see your house and will be there in 30 seconds to see the (insert item here)." So you go out and wait and nothing. Since there is no system of checks and balances on Craigslist is ripe with people who fain all kinds of interest and never deliver. Me personally I always show up when I say I will and half the time the seller is so happy to just have someone with cash in hand that I can beat them down a little more on the price once in the driveway. Cha-ching!
