In two weeks we will witness the 100th anniversary of the most coveted victory in all of motorsports, the Indy 500. More people in more countries will watch the 500 than any other sporting event, including the Super Bowl. It is interesting to note, however, that even though this will be 100 years of Indy, it isn't the 100th running. You see, the race wasn't run during the world wars. Thus, it will only be the 95th running.

It's amazing to see the advances in automotive technology over the past 100 years of racing. Early cars only averaged a "mile a minute" at best, and they raced on dirt courses. Indy, also known as the "Brickyard" is a special place, so much so that the post office awarded it its own stamp to celebrate. I wish I could be there for this year's race. I also wonder if they have any old footage of the 1911 race. That must've been quite a spectacle!! So, what about you? Are you attending, or do you plan to watch on TV?
