Our friends at Jalopnik have been working long and hard to pressure Chevy to bring back the El Camino. They recently stepped up their campaign a notch after a GM marketing guy tweeted that they'd have to see 100,000 El Camino fans come forward before they would consider building a new Elco. Now, I'm not sure I trust Twitter or marketing people. Still, we have almost 2,000 El Camino owners on CarDomain (not to mention over 145,000 Chevy owners) so I thought we might be able to help Jalopnik find those 100,000 El Camino fanatics. So if you want a to see the return of the El Camino, get over to Jalopnik and leave a comment!

By: cknarf 5/5/2011 11:15 AM Oh god no! Just let it rest in peace. We don't need an over-engineered, plastic piece of shit rolling around claiming to be an El Camino. |

By: Reekesh 5/5/2011 11:23 AM Want one.. :) In red plz |
By: chewzer 5/5/2011 11:27 AM I don't know if I want a modernized El Camino. I loved the 80s Monte Carlos and Chevy managed to ruin those and the same goes for the Impala. I know the idea sounds awesome but Chevy will just ruin it. |

By: StreetsideStig 5/5/2011 11:35 AM They would end up just bringing the Holden version over here from Australia. And that would be awesome. |
By: ultima99se 5/5/2011 11:40 AM if they did it retro like the Challenger, it would work. If they just made a modern version, it would suck. |
By: 74Furyous 5/5/2011 1:35 PM I agree with the majority. It would be the same in name only. Let the great name rest in peace. |

By: albania_fier 5/5/2011 1:47 PM hah yeah it probably will be plastic and what not but id still like one regardless, based on the G8 of course or caprice soon to be |

By: ___nes___ 5/5/2011 1:48 PM 100,000 Just to consider building it, I'm sure they will not do it buy if they do they'll bring the comodore and call it el Camino. It would be better if they started from scratch |
By: oldsmobile1000 5/5/2011 4:33 PM buil it |
By: SuperSilvi 5/5/2011 6:47 PM The only way i would accept it is that if it came with a 454 lsx engine from the factory and independent rear syspention. They would have better luck building a track ready SS silverado. |
By: livefreeanddie 5/5/2011 11:40 PM I'm down with it. And while we're at it, bring back real honest to gawd V8 American station wagons, please. Minivans=shame. |
By: albania_fier 5/6/2011 9:21 AM From what I've gathered if they want To appeal to baby boomers Out there it has To be built out Of steel and therefore very heavy which as we know compromises many performance Aspects and a 454 which dont help the fuel efficiency but helps the performance not by enough though but steel is not what it will be made of af neither Will there be a 454 never the less not Only will old dying Bastards buy it but so will my generation wether or not it's based on a G8 or a comodore or Opel omega and even Buick Park avenue as it known in shanghai |

By: 1991S10 5/6/2011 6:25 PM look up the Holden UTE...its a GM australia platform, the same as the pontiac G8...V8, rear wheel drive, the top of the line Maloo has 317Kw, 6 speed box, full dual exhaust...sweet el camino reborn |
By: RpLettermen 5/6/2011 6:45 PM gee ever heard of a holden ute? looks good if you don't know it was the austrailian version of the el camino and it never quit production! B/S GM give us the great cars the rest of the world gets to drive and blah blah blah i don't wanna hear about how pontiac was gonna have the g8 "truck" it needs to be a chevy and it better look like the current freaking ute! you stupid fucks |
By: robpurifoy 5/6/2011 7:19 PM Would be cool but the economy is not ripe for a special run that the EL C would be. |
By: albania_fier 5/6/2011 9:58 PM i dont need to look anything up, i just gave you every variation of what we know as the pontiac G8 |
By: JoeCool6972 5/7/2011 2:05 PM I WANT ONE! An SS black with white or silver stripes! |
By: hodzic 5/7/2011 6:01 PM LEGO EL CAMINO |
By: BigMike3023 5/8/2011 6:41 PM I don't think it would sell and I don't think Chevy would even consider building it. What's the difference between this and the SSR? That didn't last long and I'm pretty sure that's as close as we're going to get to bringing back the El Camino. Some classic cars should just stay classic! |
By: iceman1189 5/9/2011 4:14 AM bring it back chevy but only if your gonna make it a bad ass and its own not just a camaro front end with a bed off the back. |
By: manderson22 5/9/2011 7:34 AM they still have the el camino just not in the states but in europe and australia its called a ute made by holden which is on the pontiac gto platform powered by a v8. |
