How far would you go to rescue your ride in the event of a natural disaster? To avoid having it end up like this poor schmuck's Mustang? A Porsche owner who lived in a mansion at the end of a marina was more than prepared, and had the car ready to float to safety on what appears to be an Air-Dock for lifting boats. As the floodwaters rose, the buoyant platform was kept close to home by its lifeline to the house's roof. Brilliant or what? I've often schemed about how I'd get my cars to safety in the event of an earthquake, volcanic explosion, tsunami, wildfires, terrorist attack, government collapse, overnight ice-age, etc. What's your emergency plan? Another pic below the jump, via Jalopnik.

By: 66Mope 5/4/2011 3:46 PM Way to plan ahead. Old Mopars can survive pretty much anything, though, so I don't worry about mine much. |

By: BigMike3023 5/4/2011 5:47 PM That's awesome! Good use of what I'm sure is used as a summer blob ;) But Jen, don't you think it's kind of messed up to refer to the Mustang owner as a schmuck. What happened to him is nothing short of tragic and in no way his fault! |

By: 74Furyous 5/4/2011 6:19 PM Genius. I've often wondered the same. I want a fifth wheel enclosed trailer for my cars and bike. I figure I'll have it hooked up to that mammoth Dodge Megacab dually long bed. Sure I'll say that there's room for photos and junk but it may just get left behind by mistake if I need more room for my 25 year collection of bike magazines. |
