Seems to defy the laws of physics. Two more pics after the jump (after the cops pulled him over). Via VWVortex

It works because all the engine and drivetrain weight is in the front! It's not very nice for that truck though.

yeah, I get that, just seems that with the slightest shift the teeter totter is gonna go down...

Really! They could not think of a better way to move the car

Yep, it wouldn't take much. Like if he was stopped at a red light and chickadee decided to perch on the Taurus's decklid, lol.

Actually even though it's not as secure as it should, it's still more secure than it looks. They have 1 heavy duty strap and a steel cable going from the front of the bed to the front of the car to hold it forward on the bed and since the car is tilted down on the front the weight is going down towards the bed of the truck and not out (like if the front of teh car was in the air). Then they have 1 heavy duty strap holding the back down to the back of the bed which if you look if that rear strap is tight it's actually helping hold the car from going side to side (like if you see some load on flatbed trailers). To be honest, even though that's stupid I personally think that car is secured the best it can be and the car is in the right position in that situation. When I used to deliver building materials I've had to secure weird shaped loads that I didn't think would stay, but then I secure it right with the stuff leaning towards the center of the truck and the stuff would never move even on a 2 hour trip.

Damn! Redneck methods involve 2 things. 1 Insane determination to do it the "easy way" which is always actually more complicated, and 2 being drunk when you come up with the plan of how to do it. Kudos my redneck friends!

I'm really just curious as to how they got the car up there in the first place...

My cousin is a NYS trooper and one of his co-workers pulled this truck over near Owego, NY. Man got six tickets for a number of things including being 3000 lbs over weight for the GVW of that truck.

@SouthernGuy yeah the straps will hold but the bed is not, look at how mangled it is. The last picture shows how the strap on the railing is barely holding to dear life.

This is a good physics 1 problem right here. Taking the COM (center of mass) of both vehicles and looking at the amount of force due to gravity on the back of that truck and trying to determine what added amount would be needed to lift the front wheels off the ground. My guess is that a gradient of 5 - 10 degrees would definitely teeter the truck on it's ass, but even though those heavy duty straps provide the bulk of the support (x and y forces in summing Newton's equations), my guess is the truck was facing down a small hill to balance the car while they strapped it down. But who knows!!!

He should have turned the cars park lights on. They could have served as clearance lights. It kinda looks like a scene from Cannonball Run. I think Dean Martin was driving the Ford.

reminds me of the time my brother put his 98 taurus up on a snowbank while trying to plow through it back-first...his car was balance similarly. i think those cars are extremely front heavy

By the looks of the truck its almost like they jumped the car into the bed lol, or backed up to a loading dock and just drove it onto the truck cause the trucks all smashed and stuff so the cars prbly stuck in the truck from the impact lol, it doesnt realy matter though its still crazy and its something that you will only see one time in your life lol

nes - Oh I know, I saw the truck's bed which is ONE of the reasons I said it's still stupid. I was just saying when I commented that people were talking about how non-secure it looked so I responded to that.

What a pointless way to move a car, now there is two wrecked vehicles and a big fine from the police for dangerous driving endangering human life. What a freaking noob sauce.

wow thats awsome id so totaly try that but what i find more amazing is that hes doing it with the rare v8 taurus model lol look at the badge on the fender and the dual tail pipes thats a fairly rare car to be hauling to the scrapper haha

The physics of balance is easy, but the fact that the box pockets have not torn off is amazing! I haul cars all the time with my big orange Ford, and the thought of trying this has crossed my mind, but then I realize that I am not 13, and this may be a bad idea for on the road! LOL Although, as soon as I get the chance, I am putting a Smart Car on my deck and driving around, I have hauled heavier things then one before. What I want to know is how the hell he got the Taurus in the box of the Chev in the first place??

This is funnier than people of wal-mart. WOW. Maybe he was on his way to the wrecking yard to scrap both of them? Because he pretty much messed up both of them.

been there, done that. if he had rolled the car over it would have slid into the bed and not hung over the sides like that. just goes to show if you make something idiot proof the world makes better idiots.

Who the hell gives these idiots driving licenses??? Not only is it very unsafely balanced but the truck is now well over weight, the suspension is bottom’d out. I’m surprised the wheel nuts/bolts haven’t sheered off.......that would have caused a very nasty accident!

sparkyboss429 - The straps aren't actually going around the mirrors, look closer and you'll see the strap and metal tie-down just go in one window and out the other front window on the other side.

@browniebird This isnt the v8, the v8 is the SHO version this is the SE verison, its just a duratec dual overhead cam 3.0l. the SHO version has oval exhaust tips and a more aggressive rear bumper. Its nothing special.

Hell, he's not that overloaded in weight, just in bulk. That Taurus should weigh around 3000 pounds (that's just an estimate based on similar sized cars I've hauled to the scrap yard). I've had double that in the bed of my half ton Dodge, it was just gravel, so it was more mass, less bulk. Seriously though, I can totally understand this guy because I've damn near been to that point before too. He probably desperately needed that thing moved or hauled to the scrap yard for a few bucks and just had no other way to do it. I was just always lucky enough before I bought my trailer, to have friends that had one I could borrow. Lol.
