Ford Australia in collaboration with Top Gear Australia magazine (yes, really) got together a team of designers to see who could come up with the best retrostyled update on the menacing Interceptor from Mad Max. While neither of the two winning designs bears much resemblance to the original Ford Falcon XB GT Coupe-based Interceptor, one of them may very well end up in a planned fourth-installment movie: Mad Max 4: Fury Road. What do you think? Are either of these modern road warriors worthy of the part? Via Carscoop.

It isn't "Mad Max" without the flat-black rattle can treatment. And yeah, the blower too.

Well I love blowers but this car wouldn't have looked right with one. I still said "damn" when I first saw the picture. I like the hood in the 2nd picture though (minus the Ford oval, just looks better smooth no matter what emblem it was).

the first one looks better IMO it just works together. The second photo looks like a matchbox car to me the grill is just too busy and the tires don't fit in the wheel wells properly and the lower body is much too wide compared to the upper body. If the upper body was wider and the wheels tucked better and the grill cleaned up it would look good. But thats just my 2 cents

Looks just like the Citroen concept car from Gran Turismo. Real original....

Forget the paint, these looked all perfect. Where are the mismatched parts, different color parts and all the extra survival gear?

Instead of Mad Max 4 it should be a remake using the first car with a giant blower hood up top like this http://www.luanpa.net/wp-content/uploads/2009/12/honda-nsx-mugen-rr-2.jpg. Agreed with everyone not the Mad Max Type of car

Definitely too clean to be a mad max car. Did they forget its a post apocalyptic world that is supposed to be full of hardship and everything was salvaged from earlier times?

Neither! But what is there in that platform now other than overpriced luxury European cars; 2 door, mid or full sized, 400 hp, RWD. Can't use the Challenger, fits the bill, but it's a Dodge. You have the Mustang, eh. There's the Falcon Ute XR8, ugh a pick-up truck, or the Holden Commodore SS-V, I'm so sorry; that's a GM. I've got it! Use a US NASCAR chassis; strong, safe, readily available. It can handle a 800 hp engine. Use the front and cab of the XR8, the engine and drive train. The back you could fabricate something similar to a psuedo fastback. It's that, or find a bunch of Falcon XB GT's that haven't been destroyed and put the XR8 drive trains in them. Then they could still use a REAL blower set-up or twin turbo charge them.

Don't like both for Mad Max. Gotta be old school, parts mashed together and bad assed fast!

A huge fan of the original movie I am glad to see the original director George Miller involved in the making of this new movie. I would gladly trade some aesthetic supercharger to see the guy created the original character Mel Gibson utilized in some way in this new production. I realize this may not be the popular opinion but I really feel compelled to express it and feel Hollywood and the general public have been far to harsh on a man for just being flawed and having a problem I can relate to alcoholism. Often some of the most creative people in the world have terrible internal battles with addictions. Anyway I think the concept car is very cool and I wish the production team the best of luck with this movie AN/NA 8o)

I don't think either of these fit the Mad Max style movie and if they wonder away from the post-apocalyptic them of Mad Max then they might as well chalk it up as a failure

Mad Max drives strong metal build cars. This new car looks like its made of plastic, its not rude at all, and i dont think it would handle a crash from a REAL muscle car.

Mad max still needs to be driving the 73 Ford Falcon XB from the original films or perhaps a modified Falcon XC from the latter years but still being flat black covered in ages of dirt and havcing the gaping weiand blower sticking out of the hood like a pissed off bear looking for its next meal. Both these concepts lacks that creepy-abused car feel that the highlyy modified Falcon XB captured 20 plus years ago wear would a new shiny car appear from a post-apocalyptic wasteland? no where its got to be aged but I look forward to the movie regardless just hope its doesnt blow up like thunderdome...
