my82rampage

This is my 1982 Dodge Rampage that I bought new off the showroom floor. I used it as a daily driver for 20 years. Always took excellent care of it, kept it in the garage, no rust or dents. I had learned that Shelby was developing a high performance Rampage intended for the 1985 model year. But Dodge ended production in 1984 and the Shelby Street Fighter never came to be. I decided to build one for myself.

First I did a ground up restoration on the clean and straight body. Next I found a decent 1987 Shelby Charger that I used as a donor car. I used the engine, transmission, suspension, brakes and wheels. A complete rebuild was done using a long list of performance parts.

I am of the old school when it comes to engine building. Anyone can slap a turbo on a motor and make horsepower, but I am making about 300 HP with no boost. I am running a 2.2L with 9.5 to 1 compression racing head and cam. Intake manifold is a M.P. piece with a Holley 500 CFM 2 barrel. Exhaust is through a set of Hooker super comp headers connected to a 2 1/2 in. custom exhaust.

I did all the work myself including the machine work on the engine, and the two tone base coat clear coat paint. I hope you enjoy the pics and story.

That is one Bad-Ass K-car my friend. =] I love these things and the fact that you can swap the parts over like that. A shame I never got my project done. =[

5 stars to you my friend. I wish more people would realize the potential of the k-cars... You need to look no further than the Dodge M4S concept car. It had 500 hp out of a twin turbo intercooled DOHC 2.2L, a ridiculous feat in any case, especially by '80s standards. And even though it never made production, it did gift its powerplant to the Spirit R/T and the Daytona R/T ala a single turbo configuration. Still made a healthy 224hp in those cars though...
