One of the things I've always liked about the Grand Prix's styling is the tail lights, but OEM tails for this car seem to have issues. The black top edge under the lens always eventually bubbles and peels away when the lenses get older, and it ends up looking like hell. Continue reading...

For years, I have occasionally browsed eBay's selection of aftermarket tail lights. Some are really horrible looking, and I don't even have to imagine them on my car to know I would regret my purchase. Others were nice but something was missing, something only the original lenses had: ripples. I know it sounds strange but it was a feature I liked on the originals. I also was waiting for LED tail lights for my car to become affordable.

With the car back on the road after replacing the transmission, and with one of the tail light lenses missing a chunk, I searched once again and voila: everything I wanted for $200, and they're LED's to boot. They blend in nicely with the car's appearance, and they even have rippled lenses!

Sometimes patience pays off. How about you? Ever waited what seemed like forever for the perfect problem-area part?

I dont think I have ever had to wait a long time for a part but I sure have had the opposite happen, get a vehicle, heard of an awesome part and then found out that they stopped making it a few years ago. Finding the right parts can be a rush though. The wait probably made finding the right taillights that much more rewarding.

Lol those factory taillights are capable of housing fish in the later years. They always fill up with water.

My cheap replacement tail lights for my Volvo 240 aren't working out too great. Should've gotten some OEMs.

i never wanted to replace my taillights on my GTP... i remember installing LED bulbs into my stock lights just because they looked better than anything on the market

That's a good look for your GTP, almost looks like they came factory on some special edition or some foreign market only car. Either way, good stuff.

I did the same thing with completely clear tailights for my car. REALLY didn't like the aftermarket stuff available. Although I paid quite a bit for them, don't regret it. Just had to arrange them to become legal...even if I don't get much trouble for the way they were.

Haha! Yes, I have waited forever too for a part, then rewarded for the right price! LED OEM taillights for 2 cars, (came from show cars), 20" rims, (came from a kid who wanted "bigger" wheels), new HID's, (traded for a pair of used tires), 18" rims cheap, (guy tired of holding onto them), this is just a short list. It deff. feels good when you get the right piece after waiting so long for it! The internet is king!

well thank goodness you didn't get those lights on your cardomain page LOL. They never made LED tail lights for my car, so I just make my own lights.
