According to The New York Times, the last car to have a cassette deck on the factory option list was the 2010 Lexus SC 430 (a car marketed at empty nesters who still have extensive libraries of books on tape). Cassette decks are not available on any 2011 model year vehicles. Now, I pretty much hate tape decks, but admit that I still have them in two of my cars (only one works). Who else is still rocking cassette tapes in their ride?

By: SuzyBruisy 2/7/2011 1:15 PM My diesel Escort has the factory tape deck, and it sounds awesome. And as my CD collection rapidly deteriorates into so much silver-plastic landfill dust and my iPod sits on a shelf being ignored, the diesel will probably become my only car that I can listen to my own music in anymore. Makes me glad I saved all those junk tapes from back in the day. |

By: MrAMC1 2/7/2011 1:56 PM I was just listening to G-n-R's "Use your Illision II" on my way to work this morning in my big van! I have cassettes in all my modern cars and like them. On a related radio topic I am installing a CB in my van so I can use the PA function and a rear mounted speaker to talk to my rear most passengers. The Flowmaster 40 series muffler and the 12ft to the back seat make giving tours difficult right now! "Next, on your left, you'll see..." |

By: Shmak1982 2/7/2011 4:15 PM I still have a tape deck in my '95 Cutlass, but it quit a long time ago so I'll be upgrading that soon. Also still have the tape deck in my '79 Pontiac Phoenix, but have no clue if it's any good as I haven't driven that car in over 12 years. My '87 Dodge still has the AM/FM radio and my '75 Trans Am still has the original WORKING 8-track player. Lol. |

By: ___nes___ 2/7/2011 5:33 PM My last cassette player was on the T-bird when I first got it. That only lasted me for about a month 'til I put the CD player. I still have a cassette player at home to listen to my original stand by me soundtrack and many other obligatory mix tapes. |

By: cknarf 2/7/2011 10:32 PM HELL YES. My Camry has one! I love cassettes. You can buy kick-ass music, for cheap, at local music stores. They're durable too! |

By: retroman 2/7/2011 10:44 PM Every vehicle I own has one except for the Mustang and the Fiero. The Mustang has an 8-track player (still kinda like a tape deck I guess) and the Fiero has an aftermarket head unit. I also carry around my suit case record player. It's nice for jamming out to old vinyl (or slate) at all the car shows. |

By: GrafKroete 2/8/2011 12:24 AM My '87 Honda Civic has one. Not that one, that was in when the car was sold in 1987, but another one - a '89 Blaupunkt which cost's about $1500 when it was new xD |

By: atomicalex 2/8/2011 12:37 AM I have a tape deck in the US wagon. We use it for mixdowns - if the music doesn't sound right on a cassette in the car, it's not going to sound good on CD.... |

By: familytire 2/8/2011 5:34 AM well I still find them in more than 25% of the cars that come for service in my shop. hehhee |

By: JConnway 2/8/2011 12:35 PM my 1998 explorer was "loaded" when it was purchased - it had a cd player instead of a tape deck. Since then, I've only gone up - standard CD player to MP3 cd to Aux input to iPod USB connectivity. I wonder whats next |

By: WilliamPanik 2/8/2011 2:24 PM My 1999 Mustang GT has both a cassette and CD player and I love it. The cassette deck lets me play my Ipod without any static crap.. |
