As you may have heard, we got dumped on in the Northeast. I don't know the official count, but the depth we got locally was over 16 inches according to my ruler. They're running out of places to pile snow. Although it stopped falling at 4:00 am, they didn't finish plowing my cul de sac until 5:00 pm. At least contractors were sent to do the job, which means the snow is actually removed from the asphalt in more than the width of the plow blade.

I know that some areas, especially those that get lake effect snow, NY State, Alaska, heck... Siberia get buried deeper than this. What's the deepest snow you've ever driven in? What were you driving? Any other gnarly winter driving stories you got to share?

I live in southwest Indiana. Back in 2004 we got 20 inches of snow. I did not drive my 1984 Firebird at all. As you can see it got buried. I did drive my 2000 Ford Explorer 4x4, however. I couldn't imagine getting that much snow on a regular basis like you guys have been getting. Stay safe! http://carphotos.cardomain.com/ride_images/1/1042/1801/2603400102_large.jpg

Son, I got you beat. Driving home in what is usually a one hour grocery store round trip, or less my wiper broke off. Drivers side. Swapped for the passenger side of course. In the time it took to swap the wiper, a minute the car was basically stuck. The snow was falling that fast. Luckily I Alero'd out of that (that's right). Took two hours all together due to traffic. The amount of snow has turned four lanes into two, two into one, and my walkway which was clear a day ago is now almost knee deep. This all happened in a matter of hours.

About 1/4 inch of snow on the way to my friends house up in a very small hill where it snowed for no reason. That's why I'll never leave California.

yeah that snow storm got me good in Baltimore.... I didn't leave work early so I had to get home in the snow. I didn't make it, had to abandon the car and walk home. Was up past 3am getting the car off to the side of the road.

I got stuck tonight on a side road in a neighboring township. Localities are running out of, or have already run out of money to clear snow, and for some of them... the plows start skipping streets. I found myself on a couple occasions running down unplowed streets today. My preferred method to avoid getting stuck in the Camaro is to pretty much drive like a maniac through it... all four wheels squirming around in the snow. Kinetic energy is like gold but on that one side street, a 2010 Camaro was sideways... royally fstucked. Better yet it was a ONE WAY street which meant when I broke loose I was of course going the wrong way on a one way street. oh yeah... next to a POLICE STATION.

My wife's family lives in South Dakota. We went back there for New Year's. It's not uncommon to see drifts of snow 2-3 feet deep lying in the middle of the road, especially the back roads, and forget about being able to see the pavement. It was nothing but a sea of white with not even a single tire track to give you guidance. I shouldn't have to say this, but in those conditions, only a lifted 4x4 will get you anywhere.

I was wondering how those kids on the east coast were doing, glad to see they have to suck it up once in a while too, lol GT ur brave in a camaro...that's not happening here, if you didn't have 4 wheel, or at the least all wheel, you were gunna have a VERY adventurous ride. snow is already piled in school lots, the parking lot at the local malls now is a snow drift high enough to touch the lights..(and that's not an exageration, the parking lot in sears in st. paul mn has a dmv in the top floor, i came out to see a snow drift over 400 feet long piled up to a few inches under the actual light). minnesota averages 40-50 inches a winter...were already 6 2 7 over that and expected to get 5 more tomarrow...snow tonight and keep until tuesday morning....and we still have over a month left.....booyah, ill post a pick of ust the drift at the end of the drive compared to my 3 inch lifted jeep.
