You guys thought this thing looked hot at NAIAS. How about these new pics of it on the track? Tons more pics and the press release after the jump! You can click on any of them to see them full size. Awesome! Via GM

Sebring, Fla. -- The Cadillac CTS-V Coupe race car hit the track for the first time on Jan. 17, driven by Johnny O’Connell and Andy Pilgrim, for tests at Sebring International Raceway in Sebring, Fla.

Cadillac is reentering the Sports Car Club of America World Challenge GT series this year, beginning with the season-opening race in St. Petersburg, Fla., on March 25-27. Cadillac competed in the World Challenge series in 2004-2007, earning the Speed GT Manufacturer’s Championship in both 2005 and 2007 with CTS-V Sedan race cars.

I hate when car manufacturers put the body of their cars over a racecar shell... its pretty much false advertisement... Its like the scion drift cars... no scion could ever do that... first it has a toyota nascar engine in it and second its RWD both of which would be EXTREME modifications to a TC. Same with this car... no caddi could ever do that without destroying the car in which case why even buy a caddi? You could do the same to a camaro for half the money.

Hey TorqueAddict9, false advertising applies only when someone thinks they could actually have one of these cars or the factory version. Then, I think the peo..... (oh screw it) Dude, it's cool. Quit bitching.

Gut the insides, acid dip, throw a roll cage, full adjustable suspension, some custom made aero parts and a nice set of lightweight wheels and tires and you're set. False advertisement? Not really, it has to do more with how deep are your pockets than asking if it's possible or not. Oh and yes this car is way sexy!

TorqueAddict9 - How is it that it uses a Toyota NASCAR engine? NASCAR engines are 358 ci which is 5.867 liters while this CTS-V race car uses a 6.2 Liter V8. From my understanding the engines have to be the same platform as the street version which the street CTS-V uses an L99. What's an L99 you ask? It's the supercharged 6.2 Liter LS9 from the beast Corvette ZR1 except just de-tuned. But because of rules the car can't have a supercharger so they had to take it off and I'm sure they were able to reconfigure the internals to give the same HP allowed.

Sorry, for some reason I thought you meant that for the CTS-V, why I thought that I don't know. But anyways, it's more of the factory car than a NASCAR race car is which I'm fine with because a NASCAR just turned into strictly race car. They took a real CTS-V and turned it into a race car. In NASCAR they have so many cars it's cheaper, faster and overall better to just build cars up from scratch than to take factory cars.

I've been to a few autoshows lately, but sadly the Cadllics whernt up to par, they felt cheap.. not anything you can put your finger on... but they just felt cheap, wich is a big diassapointment for an $80,000 car

did anyone else notice the CTS logo is only visible at certain angles? does this mean that the body is full carbon fiber, ad the logo is woven into it? i think so. awesome
