Do you own a Holden Commodore SS Ute and want to make it look like the Chevy Camaro? Well, someone in Victoria, Australia created this conversion kit, which runs around $5k. This particular example was spotted recently in Nashville, Tennessee. Via Autoblog

Make the rear lights match the camaro too and it would look 100% legit

Might be worth getting some facts right, the kit is about $9k. Anyways, you couldnt force me to own one, looks fucking horrible. More on it here: http://www.boostcruising.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=664298

That is sick. I could live without those taillights, but overall, I agree with Patron022. Better than the regular camaro! lol I want one.

turned out very well done! You only have to import the ute and then install the 5K kit, no problem!

I could be wrong but it looks to me there's no reason to get an expensive kit. I bet it's just like the GM full size trucks and SUVs (among others) where it's a simple replacement of the front clip parts (front fenders, bumper, grille, headlights and hood) since Holden is GM. Just like I could take the front clip of a 1st generation Cadi Escalade and put it on the front of my 98 Chevy Silverado and it would literally be a direct bolt on replacement of the parts since the chassis underneath the body panels is the exact same. Also like you can put a Chrysler 300 front clip on the front of a Dodge Charger or Magnum. Bunch of others like that to.

If I'm right about that then I bet you could do it all yourself for roughly $2,000 or less (that includes getting the front clip painted).

Interesting. Can't say I'm in love with it, but it turned out well

That's awesome. I'd love to have a Commadore as they come, but this is even better!

i dont think i would be as simple as swapping bumpers and fenders. if i'm correct, and dont quote me i'm only guessing.. i believe the commodore is on a completely different platform than the f-bodies. the whole entire dog house might need to be changed or at least have its own custom fit bumpers and fenders fabricated for it. i dont think it would be as simple as ordering parts for it and fabricating your own brackets for headlights and such... just my two cents.

Well like I said I wasn't sure, was just guessing. I don't know much about the overseas stuff that's not in the US. I was just thinking it could be that way or that it was a good chance of being on the same platform.

Well it should be that easy. Kinda like the Magnum swaps to the 300C front bumpers.

The crazier thing is how they got the Commodore to Nashville

Like I said it could be that easy like I said in my 1st comment but it might not, I just for some reason have a feeling that it would be that easy. Just like you could put the front clip off a Cadi Escalade onto any 1/2 ton truck or SUV on the same platform, like for my 98 Silverado I could put a 1st generation Escalade on it, same GMT400 platform and would be a real bolt on replacement, just have to do all the lining up. And with Dodge and Plymouth, Ford and Mercury and so on.

Those photo's were taken in Cranbourne in Melbourne outside the owners business... so proof of it being in TN? or it never really happened! Also, Commodore is built on the same Aussie designed Zeta platform that the camaro is built on, so yes... pretty much a panly swap, slight massage, rewire, and respray and presto... you have this abomination.

Retox you beat me to it. I just saw on a newer blog "You Can Kill The Brand, But You Can't Kill The Car" where GM will bring the Holden Commodore to the US badged as a Chevy, which it said both the Commodore, Camaro and G8 are all on the same platform which means I was right about it being a direct bolt on replacement of all of the parts with some lining up.

panly = panel... epic inexplicable typo

Also, Holden submitted these to whichever relevant authority it is over there to export the Commodore to the USA rebadged as a Caprice for highway patrol duties... not sure how successful it was though.

Only thing I see different on that Holden that you wouldn't have with just swapping out the front clip is the little grille behind the front wheel wells which I honestly think it would look better without that anyways but if someone really wanted that in there they could put them in. All in all it would still be a hell of a lot cheaper than getting this kit, just go out and get the parts and put them on. Doing that would be a fraction of the price than it would be for that kit and that includes painting it, I bet that kit just gives primered parts.

I wouldn't know EXACTLY how much he kit costs as I got my information from another source, thats why I said 5k . Not like I have a Commodore. Also, I love the Cadillac front end conversions on full sized trucks.
